Two weeks ago I received a SOG Elite 2 model and I was pretty disappointed because the blade was not adjusted in the middle of the handle and scratchs along one handle side.
Yesterday I received the long-awaited Camillus CUDA QCB1 model.
Frustration again! The tip of the blade was bent (unbelievable, isn’t it?). Furthermore scratches from the Kydex sheath at the blade surface.
I was very annoyed because of this unacceptable quality control. I very nearly lost all interest in knives.
Today I was downtown and to my surprise one (of three!) knife dealer in Regensburg offered a Benchmade 710 model.
Certainly I have read all the good comments regarding this folder but I was a little sceptical, especially in point of the workmanship.
To cut a long story short, this folder comes up to all the enthusiastic posts of the BM 710 fraction. Ergonomic handle, great blade design and flawless manufacturing (!).
I bought the knife. In comparison with the internet dealers I payed considerably more for this folder but now I feel much better.

Glad you were happy with the 710. They are great knives. It is nice to be able to handle a knife sometimes, that way you don't end up disappointed.

Dont dive too deep into the pond....or you will soon be buying a $2000 belt sander and become a REAL fanatic!!!!!!!!! :p:):p:):p

I, too, get the ups and downs. Luckily the ups last a lot longer than the downs:D I'll go a while thinking that I am spending WAY too much on knives and am wasting my time and energy. Then I'll get a great deal, or receive a gift, and I'm turned completely back on to knives. With all the new knives out there, that I have yet to handle, I think I should be happy for quite some time.

Good luck with the 710. You will not be disappointed with it. I have the ATS-34 version and the M2 as well. They are excellent performers and very slick in terms of looks. Add to that the well-regarded Axis lock and it's easy to see why it is so well thought of around here.

I guess you could say it constitutes an emotional "UP". :)
