Here is a pic of, (quite possibly), the last stock removal straight Carbon Steel blade I believe I'll ever make. I've been stock removing since around '92 and this year marks my switch over to the hammer and anvil method for the bulk of my knifemaking. Back then, I started out making knives from files, then D-2 and 440-c and there was a time when I used planer blades for knifemaking fodder. It is my intention to keep using 440-c for folks who MUST have a stainless steel knife, but, simple Carbon Steels all need to be hammered out.:D

Here's the stats:
It's 1/4" 5160 stock, full height flat ground, diff. temped and satin finished. OAL is 12 1/2" with a 7 3/4" blade. The scales are Bocote and they are secured to the full tang with 2 ton epoxy and a pair of brass Corby style fasteners and a 1/4" brass thong tube.

Thanks for looking!
All the best,
Mike U.

Looks great, and you'vemade step that I hope to make sometime too. Just seems(to me) put more of yourself into blade ya pound to shape.

bah, and as always, I LOVE bocote. :)

Oh, and congratulations, I guess. :)

Another religious conversion... :D :D :D

That is a sweet and super camp knife. Hey, if you want to keep that blade shape, as a variation you could do one with a sharpened clip from where that clip starts on that one - would make a mean looking guardless fighter too - that is a really versatile design. Jason.

Thanks for the favorable comments guys! Bocote is just a fabulous looking wood. I also love the way it works. It's easy to sand and shape and takes a really nice polish.

Jason,

EXACT-A-MUNDO!!:D

I love a good clip point blade, and I really want to do one up as a fighter.;)
Clip points look easy enough to do when shown in a tutorial of how to forge to shape, but, I'm not faring too well at it yet. Practice, practice, practice. I am getting good at drop points though! :D

All the best,
Mike U.
