OK, I got in the woods test results on the ESK survival knife. OK so I'm a little late with the results :o:)
The picture isn't that good but that's just me :)
the finish is just a FC soak the knife is not meant to look purty but just to work good..
here is the news letter on the schools site that helped design it and the results ..

wow Dan, thats a great looking survival knife! I find most multi-tasking knives are not that great at lots things, but this one looks amazing! whose idea was the bow drill hole? I like that feature. What type of steel is it? My kind of knife.

Hi Keith
it was the Schools idea for the Bow drill holes and skin scrapper.
there was a little debate on the steel but if not 1095 it was very close to 1095 or at the least
the upper end of what 1085 would be.. in the end the cert said 1095.
this steel got more testing than most any steel most makers get because of some junk steel I got in the first place to make these..
thanks,,

geez damn you all full of servival knives, you gotta get one of those sows on discovery channel....
keep up the good work man

that could be a while yet :D

I watched a show the other night, where they were selling like 200 knives in a package deal.. something like $1.69 each  someone in china sweat all over those for nothing..

That is just awesome Dan! Very nice little blade, very nice story, VERY nice hooks! As a blacksmith I can appreciate those as well as the knife! You didn't happen to know a blacksmith named Payne Junker do you? Up in the lower Vermont area.
