So, me and the fam-bam moved from Oxnard to Ojaiwhich is about 30 minutes away. I just came home from work and I wanted a beer. Well the kind I have needs a bottle opener, and mine is still packed away.

So I had my Bk14 nearby and noticed how robust the tip is.

So I started to carefully pry up the edge of the cap with the tip of my 14. It was relatively easy.

The EsKabar made short work of the cap.

Awesome! I've yet to use my eskabar to open a beer, but my izula has seen many bottle tops

Didn't see the second pics. I usually use the spine of the knife a little closer to the handle of the knife. Works great that way and I don't risk cutting myself. Haha

Tried the spine but was getting nowhere fast, lol. I had great control of the blade, so no worries there.

And hears a few of my knives at the new homestead. Some of my blades are still packed from moving but not my Beckers ;)

I usually use the spine of any of my knives (right by the handles) as a bottle opener.been doing it for 20+ years, works great

Lol, yeah. Missed the boat on that one. I have a nice bottle opener, it's just packed away due to the move. I should just get an 11 and always have a bottle opener with me.

to use the spine, I grab the neck as close to the cap as I can and lever away on top of my thumb's 2nd knuckle. You can also use a screwdriver or a plastic lighter by trapping the lighter/screwdriver under the cap then your index under it.

Yeah, when I'm stuck (which is never, but I learned this technique anyway) without an opener, I do the same thing. Or just to impress people at parties. Which also happens....never.

Yep....that^^^^

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. I just tried the spine, levered off the thumb and it worked like a charm. Funny, you'd think that after 11 years of *cough* legaly drinking, I would have known some of these. Lol, ya live, ya learn. Thanks again!

Haha. I hear you.

The way I do it is to lever it off of your index finger rather than your thumb. I keep the blade on the opposite side of the bottle facing away from me. While grabbing the neck of the bottle with the rest of my hand.
