Time for some reminiscing.

When I first modded my Eskabar, a mustard patina and tan cord wrap.

A new patina after cutting some strawberries.

Later, a lemon patina.

Cold blue and grey cord.

Back to mustard.

And now it's all grown up with big boy handles. I'm so proud.

Yes, the zytel handles are that awesome.

As others have said, they completley change the feel of the knife, from necker to small bushcrafter in seconds.

The BK-9 is the King. The BK-2 is a beast. The 11 is a darn handy little blade. I love my 17. But the 14 is still my favorite. It can handle big jobs, and is still small enough to carry in your pocket, every day.

I'm currently running it with some extra goodies on the sheath.

Very cool rig with the 14 there. I really need to try a 14 soon. Thanks for sharing the pics!

Love the 14 aswell. Its my first and only Becker (for the moment, this will be changed). I love your patina, especially the lemon one. Great mods to a great knife.

pretty! I agree with the zytel statements! dont wanna go back LOL

I do like me some patinas... I usually do a couple on my Beckers just to see how they look b4 I do permanent stuff like etches.

Where did ya get that handy lil screwdriver? I like that

I'm not a fan of patinas but its still a nice knife. If mine didnt have permernant scales I'd definetly have purchased a set of those zytel ones. Is yours convexed?

Yeah, it's convexed. I use a sanding pad and down to 2000 grit sandpaper.

SShadow, question: Do you think the new handles can be modded to a larger dia circle, to match the one in the tang, without looking screwed up or making it too weak structurally ???

I know I'm not SS, but I think with a file and some sand paper you can do that without damaging them, and they shouldn't have any structural issues aside from being slightly breakable on the butt, but do you really put that much stress on the butt of a knife that small? If your adventurous, then you can use a drill or dremel and save some time. Another thought to give it a cleaner finish, is to carefully melt the edges after you have the shape done just to smooth them out.

Oh yeah, I think it would be very easy to do with a drill press. They would look like the scales Sh@rp made. I would think the greatest possibility of breaking them would be during the process of drilling the hole, and not after they're on the knife.

I considered doing this, and I considered drilling out the hole to .25", but they feel so good I've left them alone, for now.

This photo is actually what convinced me to try a 14. I saw it when you originally posted it forever ago.

The new zytels are great. I put my extra set on one of my Izulas with the same result. Feels like a new knife. Great thread, thanks.

I might volunteer to try it...worse comes to worse I'll buy a new set. But I have heard from people with the SHARP scales (which have the open lanyard hole) that its more comfortable with the hole filled. I dunno. Kinda curious to try now.

That is awesome.

How well do they fit on the Izula? Pics?

I'd be interested to see that. Like I said, I may do it myself at some point, but for now, I'll see how I like it with the hole covered.

The zytels fit fine. I actually just had to do some extremely minor fitting to front and rear part of the scale where it engages the inside of the Izula handle. In fact I used the Izzy itself to do the fitting. I'll get some pics up when I get a chance.
