Thought y’all might enjoy some pics. The Case, Western, and Schrade were in pretty nice condition when I got them. The Buck and the OT were dirt cheap and dirt-y. They cleaned up nice, though.

I find myself drawn to smaller knives the older I get. I guess that makes sense. Funny, though.

You may regret saying that!:D

It's something I discovered as I aged into old fart territory. The smaller knives seemed to do everything I needed, but left more room in my pockets for either other stuff, or another knife. Or more stuff plus another knife.

You have some very nice knives in that photo. But you need to check out the peanut. Looks too small until you use it for a while. Comes in a really wide variety of scales, all good looking. Pointy little blade guts pan fish like a scalpel. I even knew a man who carried one as his edc for over 40 years. Worked out well.

Thanks guys, the case is a 6327. The scales are beautiful.

Carl, I carry a peanut a lot of the time...I have a couple RR's...never posted pics because they are nothing special. I have some older US peanuts, too...somewhere. I have too many knives. I usually carry a peanut or small stockman or the like and a Kershaw leek on my back pocket. Every once in a while I realize I have 4 knives on me. A bit absurd. What can I say.

I agree, the peanut is a formidable knife for such a small package. Although my daughter (2 1/2) has pretty much laid claim to all of them. So I guess in a few years I'll be buying more.

Thanks for showing us this nice cleaned up set.

I think you have shown several beautiful sets that you have cleaned in the past.

How do you do this?

I have seen conflicting directions, methods and materials.

Whatever you do certainly produces excellent results.

If this is off-topic, I will e-mail you.

It ain't off topic for me. I usually soak in mineral oil for a day or so. Then I wash in hot soapy water and spray in the hinges and work em a little. Then I soak them in Wd-40 for a little while. Then wash again and dry and oil. In an ideal world. This batch relied a little more heavily on wd-40 as there was a lot of rust and I had a lot of wd-40. ;) -- I was cleaning like 40 gross knives, so I took a few shortcuts.

And sure, I'm happy to show em off!

Thanks for the pictures. Brings back a lot of memories. I lost a Case similar to yours when I was creek fishin' back in the 70's. The store I went to when I could afford to replace it didn't have a Case in stock so I got a Schrade 61OT.

Dan, ...just how(?) do you choose between those lovely ol' knives...what a great line up!! Awesome line up of hard working, fantastic old knives
