A little something i've been working on. I made a smaller version last year but i just had to make a bigger one:D
I just wanted to show my "antique" etching and patina. Blade is Aldo 1084 and an reclaimed hickory handle that has been reshaped, torched and oiled.

Now onto the sheath.

Looking good! That etch is just something else. I think we need a shot in hand to get a full sense of scale, though. :)

I wanted to make something that was more than a machete but a little less than a sword. However i wanted to comfortable to swing like a machete so it's 1/4" at the "choil" and distal tapers to 1/8" at the point. Also the long handle allows for a myriad of grip options. You can choke up onto the blade, swing two handed, or chop securely one handed with the swell on the buttgrip. Whenever i make any blade the only two things i'm thinking about are i want this to chop and i want it to slice and this blade shape lends itself towards both.
As an added bonus this style is just fun to forge out. This particular blade was almost completely forge to shape. Just some hand planishing and drawfiling on the edge. I only cleaned up the profile a little on stormcrows KMG since i don't own a grinder.

Man, i hope that answer wasn't to long winded:D

:)Not at all. Elaborate is the operative word. Thanks for reply and well done:thumbup:
