I saw a picture of one of these and im really intruiged but cant find it on the HI site. Is it a special run or something? When will it be available again? How much do they go for?

Thanks

They come up once in a while, for sale on this forum's "Deals of the Day". First come, first served. A search shows the most recent one was sold last month, at the "Blowout Sale" price of $150.

I believe they can be special ordered, also, at full price. An email to Auntie Yangdu could set this up (she just might even have one in stock).

That's really funny. I read the exact same thread as you, saw the same knife, had the same question, went to the website, came back here, and saw your post asking exactly what I was going to ask. We seem to have similar taste. Great looking knife!

It should be! I love my farm knife :)

Cut down a tree with it last weekend, cooked dinner with it five minutes ago.

Well there are a lot of things that are regular offerings (as they come in) that aren't on the website.
Part of the fun is having to poke around here and see what comes up;)

And yes, the FK is an incredible chopper/slicer. :)

Ha ha. Ditto!

I've been looking a lot at HI's website, they have some lovely offerings. Their JKM-1 puukko has really caught my eye too.

Thanks for the info and pics chaps! (feel free to post more of the latter;))

How does the Farmcata compare to the Farm Knife in its ability to chop and slice?

The Farmcata IMHO is a better slicer, as it is slightly thinner and lighter than the Farm knife.
Both are good choppers, but their finer edge bevels make them non suitable as dedicated heavy wood choppers, as you would use an CAK, AK, GRS........etc.

So we are talking somewhere in the vicinity of 11-12 inch blade?
Approximately, yes. As always, there is some minor variation by different Kami's as to exact length and weight.

I wouldnt want to chop anything tougher than green wood with how fine the edge is, but dont get me wrong, the thing will delimb a tree with ease
