I was in the magazine section of my favorite book store and saw an article in a magazine which had the same title as this post. Plus a picture of some nice things, fine brandy, a good cigar, and, at the top of the picture, an open Spyderco "Toad".

To my way of thinking, a Toad IS one of the finer things of life and I was very gratified to see it labeled so in this article. I realize a lot of people will disagree, but there the Toad was, in a picture with several of "The Finer Things" of life.
Thanks Sal.

Usually such things include the image of a beautiful woman. What was she like?

Buggs,
No people were in the picture. Just a fine mahogany desk with some really nice things arranged on it. (Including the Toad.) I think there might have been a photograph of a beautiful woman on the desk, though.

Its certainly priced as one of the finer things in life!

And thats a close to being critical of a Spyderco as you will ever likely hear me say.

I have seen two of these, and yes it is very nice! Well made and all. However I don't care for the blade style or shape and most certainly not 8a at that price point. Just my .2$

Hi Bill,
I might have made a small mistake. I noticed a few scratches on my "Toad". I used some "white" (finest grit) "Scotch Brite"on the scales. The scratches came right off but I wonder if the alimite (sp?) did too. what do you think?

Hi back Will.
Beats me if the scotch brite removed any coating. It sure has proven itself to me as tough stuff.
I carry my Toad in the watch pocket of my levis or in the right pocket of my slacks.
I never keep keys, change or anything else there. Accordingly, my knife has yet to scratch.
I use Flitz to polish the surface of the scales and Tuf Cloth on the blade. My Toad has been carried a year and still looks as good as my two NIB "spares".
I'm afraid this little jewel will be deleted from the Spyderco line and I always want one with me.
Take care. Bill
