Pala went ahead and made a few of the village model type khukuris we asked for 2 or 3 months back. He sent a few and here's the first one up.

It's a 20 inch, 28 ounce hefty Sirupati by Kumar. It has his 6 pointed star and a "K" above it in Devanagari. This may be as close as we get to the first name in Devanagari. The blade also carried the HI logo and for good reason. This is the best village model I've ever seen. The only difference between this model and the standard HI model is steel (but still habaki type) bolster and buttcap and the finish.

This is an excellent khukuri. Fit and hardness are perfect. Wood is not finished -- raw look. Blade has satin finish and not magic stone mirror. Detail work on Sword of Shiva excellent.

Karda and chakma very good but not highly polished.

Scabbard and frog some old perfect version by village sarki in new leather.

Pala says we'll have to get $90 for this one to make it fly.

Call or email if you're interested in number one.

Nice grab, Bruiser....bet you could whittle some nice cross-country skis with that one  :D

Wow!

I like it!! Nice price too.

Handle like this is a woodchuck's delight, and I don't mind the satin finish. Steel fittings are nice too. I think it's an excellent "user" concept.

If it improves cash flow through increased volume, I think these are a winner. Especially if the detail work remains at the usual level. Polishing ability is not rare, the khukuri forging and shaping abilities are.

Say Uncle

I dont suppose they will have any M 43's in the villager style would they ?

No M43 village style. Haven't had a chance to look at all of them. Grabbed the first one and stuck it up for info.

Just curious - from the weight, and the very flat-looking edge bevel in the pic, are these villagers convex edge?

I've only had time to look at the one that's gone. Not convex but more of a flat grind. Not HI but a very well done and fairly fancy village model. Full guarantee with no fear.

that was so good you really can't call it a villager. Perhaps the shopping site should list HI Finish and Village Style as options.
