I just picked this up, mainly because it's a Limited Edition. I have a bunch of LE's but this is the first I've seen that features a knife made in China.

Now that says a whole lot about the quality of that knife if Buck Inc. will but it in a Black box!!

I've always thought the Chinese products were of poor quality (any product)...but their copies of the Mauser Broomhandle are so good that the parts interchange with the original German models...

I looked at one that was in really nice shape...for $495  ...I looked closer...the "N" in "Neckar" was reversed... :D

I have tomorrow off...I wonder if Wally World has the Trapper??? ;)

I've seen too many really nice looking knives now that have come from China to think that. I don't know about them on the molecular level, but as far as fit and finish on the better brands, they are pretty darn good.

If Buck still made the trapper here in the USA, I'd be buying them, but not because I think that the Chinese made ones are junk or truly inferior. I have enough faith in Buck to believe that they just won't market junk.

My local Walmart still carries the trappers.

Redhead is a Bass Pro Label but I think you know that Trax. Enjoy working on your Chinese Mauser.:)

I'd rather have the Wally one anyway - not too fond of etching... ;)

Actually, I passed on the Chinese copy of the Mauser...but I did buy the German Mauser with the Chinese export markings... :D

I'll check Wally World tomorrow...If the crowds aren't too bad...

Oh...The First Chinese "LE"...I thought it was "Lee"...I have a few I know with that last name. More Chins than Chinatown. Misread the OP.

I've had one Chinese Buck. The Pilot. It was a nice knife. But I gave it away. Didn't know it's country of orgin until I popped it outta the clampack and saw the tang stamp that was not viewable in the packaging.

I'm sure there is a market for them, but it doesn't work for me. Would you buy/wear a Rolex made in China? I wouldn't.

Wait a minute now!! What are trying to say Trax!!
Ask those Texas Boy's and they may say some exotic hide Lucchese's

Yep and I like a little elephant ear too (so not PC)
My Ostrich are the 1888s but the ElEar are Justin Ropers with sensible heal.
I'm the only guy in Maine I've ever seen with a pair of good Ropers on.
They go straight from their tenny pumps to lace up wood cutter boots which is OK too.

I have a Rolex. And I wear Adidas. :D

The Chinese Bucks are pretty well made. I wish they would make 'em with the synthetic scales. The wooden scales on one of mine has developed pin cracks. Otherwise, they are solid little knives.
