Made by my grandfather, during the 40's I guess... made it for my grandmother.
The blade its probably an old file, the handle is stacked cow-horn, with rhine-stones inlaid.

Not real purdy.. but it has history for me... loved it since I first saw it when I was 2 or 3.

Now I appreciate it for getting my interest piqued at an early age, and for constantly giving me inspiration in my own blade making.

Also, its got good balance, right behind the brass guard, and the rhine-stones dont hurt ones hands, infact they help grip a lot.
Blade is canted a little(makes me think of older Gerber Mark II's), and with such good balance, it would make a good fighter, that could be used right of left handed... but its just a display case piece now.

Just felt like sharing.

To have inspired in you that interest in knives, this must be a wonderful knife. It looks pretty darn good to me too.

Yeah, actually it looks kinda purdy to me! Especially for how old it is. Nice knife!

I actually dont know what she used it for, if she did use it.

I always got the impression that she just kind of set it up on a shelf to admire.... but now I think that given the times, she probably used it for stuff around the house, at least occasionally.

I'll have to ask her next time I see her (yeah, she's still alive and kickin' 88 years old. :))
