Here's mine. This isn't the actual one. It's just one for sale on eBay.

It's an Imperial fixed-blade "Hunting" knife, made in Providence RI. I bought it when I was 12 at a hardware store. It must have been 1971. I walked all the way so my parents wouldn't know. I used the knife through boy scouts. After High School, it disappeared.

The plastic stag handles completely enclose the tang, but it's pinned like a full-tag.

Thank goodness for eBay. I'd forgotten all about the brand and everything. I never thought that there were others for sale out there.

This is still one of my favorite designs. I have a modern Camillus, with the same size and blade shape. It's one of my favorite belt knives.

Imperial made great inexpensive blades.
They weren't built like a tank or anything but they did a great job with the steel they used.

I believe the first knife I ever bought myself was a 3" drop point Gerber Gator look a like for $3. I still have it somewhere.
I remember it coming razor sharp and taking a great edge, and one thing I really liked about it was the fact that they left off the nail nick since it didn't need it.
I think the next knife to come was the $5 full sized version of the same knife that i never used and eventually gave away.

Great that you still have your first knife purchase. My first knife purchase was no name sheepfoot friction folder. It lasted from 5th grade to the end of 9th.

The first knife I ever bought was a Puma Game Warden folder back in 1971. I still had it until about a year ago when I gave it to a nephew who was going on his first deer hunt.

The first knife I ever bought was a Schrade Walden jackknife in the early 60s. I ending up giving it to my friends little brother when I left for the Army.

Certainly not my first knives, but these were the first two I bought. I don't remember which was actually first, but I got them within a month or two of eachother. I was 12-13 as well. 1999

Gerber LST - Post Fiskars, but they hadn't completely gone to shit yet. My dad still has this and uses it often. Great little knife.

Kershaw Blackout - It won a blade magazine award and was undoubtedly the coolest thing available at my local Wal-Mart. Remember, 1999 and 12 years old. Online and catalog purchases weren't in the cards. I just bought another one from a member. Great little work knife. I like the blade shape better than the Blur.

The first knife I remember buying new was a yellow handles Case stockman. I was in high school at the time and bought it with money I earned from working in hayfields.

Decades ago, I bought a Camillus Cub Scout knife at Sears while proudly wearing my newly minted Wolf badge.
My grandfather had me work on his farm to earn the money for it.

He was murdered when I was a teenager. I still carry this knife on the anniversary of his death. I wouldn’t trade this knife for anything.

Great idea for a thread. I think the first purchased was an ontario pilots knife when I was around 10. They were selling boxes full of them at gun shows when I was a kid. Broke the tip on mine within an hour stabbing trees. Funny to see how many used ones are missing tips. Still love the look of them, but I personally think the ergos are terrible and I haven't bothered to pick up another one. Maybe one day I'll give one to my kid so he or she can learn about tip strength too :)

Also remember spending what seemed to be a lot of money on some awesome Spiderman throwing knives around the same time.

I bought a ton of knives at traider's village with my allowance as a kid. My first "real" knives were the Benchmade Mini Onslaught and a Spyderco Ulize.

This Camillus was one of the first knives i bought myself. Still use it to open all of my packages. My first decent knife was the Kershaw blur tanto point with half serrations.

First decent folder was probably a Vic Rucksack. First one hand opener, Colt AR15 (retired from durty due to lock failure, closes if you put too much pressure on the spine), first fixed blade was a gift Muela Cazorla (stag handle). Next one hand opener was a Spyderco Centofante III bought locally (not any more! I was trully ripped off!). Don't have any pictures right now though...
