Hello guys, i know none of you have read a post from me in the past and that is because i am a very new collector, i have been researching for about a week now and i'm still not sure what i want my first "real" purchase to be!
However, i did make a very tinypurchase this week, and this being my first knife. I know many of you collectors will laugh at the following, however when i saw this knife i just though "meh" it's £7, looks awesome and i wanted it right away, and i've learnt one thing from reading peoples posts it's that if you see a knife you like, you should get it and not listen to other peoples opinions.
Anyway, moving on, i thought i'd have a go at my first little review of this little knife which i'm sure most of you have guessed what it is by now. Bearing in mine i'm no expert, i'm no experienced knife collector, this ir purely what i have picked up since having this knife so any advice people can give to me for future would be greatly appreciated as i wish to write reviews on all of the knives i get as my experience and knowledge on knives grows.
The Knife
Yes, you got it, it's the Spyderco Bug, the smallest knife to ever come from Spyderco.
At first glance when it arrives i was impressed by the neat packaging in which it came in, it looked very professional and high quality, even for such a small thing! You read all the reviews on knives i'm sure and every review tries to put across just how small this knife really is, well i was certainly shocked at the size of this knife, i mean it's really REALLY small!

As you can see, a very sweet little knife and in my opinion it's very aesthetically pleasing! The knife itself closed, sizes up at:1-5/8" long and 3/16" wide. Like i said, very small! This would be a great addition to keyrings which people may have, unfortunately for me if i was caught carrying this i'd find myself locked up in jail (England :grumpy
"The Bug's" handle comes as a complete stainless steel structure which personally i like, it looks nice and has added effect with the spider emblem which is printed onto the handle, and for those interested in using it as a keyring it does come with a tiny hole on the handle which can easily be added to your keys which is a nice little addition by Spyderco and i can imagine it being a very useful little tool to carry around!
The handle also has two little imprints for your fingers to rest comfortably in and also enhances the grip. As for the weight, as you can imagine it is unbelievably light weighing in at less than half an ounce! Unfortunately the bug does not have a lock to keep open, but to be honest with such a small knife i barely even notice! it does hold open really well and i have had no problems so far!
The Blade itself is made from 3Cr13MoV stainless steel, and if i'm being prefectly honest i don't really have much knowledge on what that means yet!
the blade is 1-5/16" long and comes with the usual Spyderco hole through it which really is small which makes it extremely hard in comparison to other one-handed knives to open with, well one hand... and for me as i have quite large hands it's really a two handed knife! The blade is razor sharp though, and all though the knife has limited used because of it's size i'd definitely reccommend people adding it to their collection as it's just so practical and really does come in handy in many many ways! it's great value for money!
