Well, after talking up my buck 192, I've come to the beging of another search. I've liked everything, except the rat tail tang. This has been bugging me ever sense I got out and batoned a few times to try it.

So the the question today is, Whats the first things that pops into your head if you were looking for a knife around $150($175 max), 3.5"-5", full tang, something that cuts very well, but can baton if needed and uses a quailty of steel, from Bucks 420HC and up. Preferably wood handles, but not a selling point, and a fairly sturdy sheath. And heres the kicker, readily avalible in canada
(you knew it was coming) :o

Its going to be a general purpose belt knife, everything from woods carry, to a chance of an edc (replace my 192 I have now).

Thanks for the time guys, but you how much it bugs ya when your looking that new one.

hows about 2 suggestions I don't own either one but am already considering both for the future 1) Fallkniven f1
2) Benchmade outbounder or a fixed griptillian

First thing to mind: Ritter Grip RSK Mk3

On second thought.......no, that was the first thing, I'll stick with it.

There are several Bark rivers that would fit the bill

But the Ritter Grips are tough to beat from a design standpoint

Bark River no question, too many to list. Check out their forum at the other place or here: http://brkca.com/ for a comprehensive list of what they have. You'll find there's more than what their official website shows.

Some of the knives from Ragweed forge. Most all have a stick tang and the scandi grind that works very well on wood. For a hunnert and a half, that would cover a puuko/leuko combo. Then you could have your cake and eat it too.

The barkrivers are nice, but their avalibility is a little scarse. The only place I know of buying them is from swordepot, and the price you see in the states is 50-60 $ more. Not out fo the question

Thanks so far guys.

yes it does, I dont like the thought of ordering from out of canada, I've heard to many bad things, the only way I would is if its from a very well known site, as in ragweedforge, or something that people have ordered from and not had trouble.

Grohmann Knives are spectacular and are not only available in Canada but are made here as well. (I would suggest full flat grind models)

First thing that pop to my head would be the Fallkniven F1 or the S1. check out tagetknives.com and email the to see what they have in stock. Rowland is great to deal with and hes based in Calgary.

i like my grohmann #4 inexpensive and i batoned with it for 6 days strait on the westcoast trail and never worried about it once
