Thought I would share a few cell phone pics of one of my new models for Blade.

The Fotoku, or folding Santoku.

5" Blade of 5/32 CPM154
10-7/8" Overall.

4 of these are heading to Atlanta.

This is just one of several new models I have been working on.

Very nice. I like those a ton. Any thoughts on making a smaller version in the 3.5-4" range? Those should do very well at Blade.

Wow. Color me impressed.

Also, I'd like to see a whole-knife picture of one open and edge-on, so we can see the framelock cutout and engagement. It looks really good from the angle in the first picture

Umm....uuummm.... I can't think of anything that would describe how much I like those! I just keep staring at my screen, thinking if I just sold some toys, switched my son to cheaper diapers, made the wife get a job, I migt be able to get one! =)

Perfect!

If you don't mind how are you doing the stop pin on those?

The dovetail milling on the scale side is sick business!! Awesome.

Stop pin is the standard for me, pressed into blind holes in the handles.

They are big on this one though, 5mm.

I usually use 5/32"

I really like it! (Though, as a cook, I have to note that it doesn't have the knuckle clearance to work as a sanoku :) )

I know Dan, it was the best I could do though, and not have spine protruding past the handle when closed.
I hate that.
If I can get over that, I could make it with more clearance.

Right now, the whole edge will touch with a pinch grip, and 2/3 will touch with a normal grip.

That is probably my favorite knife i have seen in a long time. assuming that the price is close, this would beat a sebbie any day. THAT IS BEAUTIFUL.

Great work. Good luck at Blade, I bet those get snapped right up. (Assuming they aren't going for delivery.)

Those are beautiful!

Even though it doesn't have the clearance for real santoko work, I doubt that's what most people would buy them for.

Maybe there's a better name for the blade shape than Fotoku?

I am working on a similar profile (though smaller and narrower) blade for a slipjoint and am thinking of it as "halfway between a Wharncliffe and a sheep's foot".
