Hello Everyone,
I know that this is a bit early, but I wanted everyone to have this on their calendars. BladeSports International will again be holding a cutting school and competition in Ellensburg, WA on April 16-17, 2011.
The school will qualify those wanting to participate in future BladeSports events. Safety, technique, and the technical aspects of this new sport are covered. You also get a chance to cut with some of the best, who are willing to share their secrets. We also discuss knife design, heat treatment and how to set up your own events, if you wish to do so.
The cost of the school will include continental breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday. The cost of the school is $100 if you register before March 31, 2011 and $135 if you register after March 31, 2011. Please note, that if you register before March 31, 2011 you will receive a discount of $35 on the school.
There is an additional fee of $25 to participate in the Cutting Competition on Sunday.
As in the past, Spyderco will be providing Prizes for winners at the competition (red and white levels). There will also be other cutting events, like the 2x4 derby, the 2x6 derby, and a rolling golf ball derby. These single event cuts are a blast and get you prepped for the big coarse cut.
If I get enough commitments, I might be able to get group rates for one of the local hotels.
Ellensburg, is about 2 hours east from the SeaTac airport in Seattle, and is a great small town that offers every modern convenience including great shopping and dining. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
If you have not received training in a while, please remember that in order to maintain your cutter certification you must have formal training, either at a school or with an instructor at least every 2 years.
For those who do not have one, competition knives are provided.
A cutting school is a great way to pick up some technique and training queues that you might not get from one on one training.
I hope you can join us.
respectfully,
Jose Diaz
