I realize this is a delayed response, but I wanted to give some further information on these. For the record, I throw knives. My girlfriend wanted to get me a throwing set for Xmas, and she somehow came across these BCX knives. She purchased 2 of them, so not this set, but the individual Frontier Fury knives @ $105/ea (the smaller ones of this set). Those of you who throw know that you generally need 3 knives, and preferably 3 knives of equal size/weight to throw in competition/games. Having 2 new knives was nice, but I need 3 for day-to-day throwing, so I went out the next day and ordered a single Frontier Fury (and was blown away at how expensive they were). After I ordered my knife, I became suspicious of BCX, as their descriptions and weights do not sound like they are written by someone who throws or makes blades. Long story short, after some research, it seems like these blades are just rebranded
Fort Turner knives. The BCX "Frontier Fury" from BCX appears to be a FT "Frontiersman Pro Thrower" ($59.95). The BCX "Pro X Thrower" appears to be a FT "Ultimate Pro Thrower" ($79.95). With BCX products, they generally do some kind of custom work to snazz up the product and then put a huge markup on them. With these, they apparently do nothing aside from stamp BCX in the steel. I do not know who makes the knife roll - it could be an actual BCX product.
Now, as for the review, I do really like these knives. Throwing from the blade is great, as the blade profile allows nice 'memory' for your fingers (I'm a pinch thrower, not a hammer grip thrower). The leather is smooth and wears well. I lubed up the blade and leather with some Fluid Film to keep them from rusting. The blades come sharp (maybe BCX does that?) , so I had to grind them down to make them usable. I have used many knives from Cold Steel, Boker, Condor, Hibben, etc and these are, by far, my favourite. Leather is nice when you're throwing in the cold, as you're not holding cold steel all the time, but make sure you have multiple targets as these handles will get thrashed quickly if another knife hits them. These have a nice weight and feel more substantial than a lot of the common throwing knives. I don't feel like they are going to break any time soon. These things love to embed themselves in the wood, so it's a pain to retrieve them, but that's my only real complaint. Grab a set from Fort Turner if you want to save some $$$.
