Just wondering if Rat Cutlery's future production of the RAT line with Rowen production will include the RAT-3 with the shorter handles (than the RC3). I still love the RAT-3 for horizontal belt carry under a fleece or shirt. The shorter handles and rounded pommel are ideal for this.

I doubt it . I would just hang on to the rat3.... I did...I have a 1095&D2 version and I like them, I do not like what Ontario has done or trying to do but my son carries the rat3 and I have the RC3/RC4...

I do have one, but I wished I had another. However, I'm reluctant to send my money Ontario's way, so I hope RC puts out a RAT3. If not I'll try to track a used one down in trade.

the RAt3's pop up from time to time on the trade/sale section... I would not send $$ to Ontario for no reason...my opinion...

I asked them the same question in the "Rumor of happenings between Ontario and RAT Cutlery" and here's the response I got,
Just to be flat honest with you I doubt we will ever be a RAT-3 since most people prefer the longer handles of the RC-3. There are still some good RAT-3s out there made by Ontario before we told them to cease and desist. I would just make sure whoever you buy it from will check the grind for you and make sure it's straight, true, symmetrical, etc. Derrick and Tom on this forum would probably do that for you and I think they are still carrying the Ontario RAT-3.

I too prefer the shorter handles and green canvas micarta. Maybe if more people show interest they might change their mind. But right now the tan rc-3 is calling my name.

Even though I doubt we will come out with the shorter RAT-3, I'll never say never. Anything's possible.
