I am trying to find out if a knife I owned made in maybe the 80's, but not sure, is still being produced. I thought it was the The General model, but after looking at the general made know I know this is not it. Hard to describe but it was the Most massive blade I have ever seen Buck make. I think of it as a fighting bowie/huge hunting knife combined. Wish I had kept mine.

Anyway, anyone have any thoughts on this?

Hi MHall52,

Take a look at this photo, it could be a 124 or maybe the biger bowie the 903.

Is it possible that it was one of the special editions Buck made with the 184 Buckmaster blade?

Best,

Now that I think about it more, I think it had a blood groove, with the Black Micarta handle. This blade was really thick, extremely beefy.

Blood groove and micarta handle, was it a Buck knife you had? :D
But earnestly, has Buck ever produced a knife with this combination?

I thought for sure it was the 124, until you mentioned the blood groove. None of the micarta handled knives have blood grooves. In fact, ONLY the 119 Special and 120 General have blood grooves.

We had our custom shop during the 80's but you werent going to pick up a custom for cheap.
We have a real mystery on our hands. :)
