Please tell me I'm not the only one who's made a khukuri scabbard out of duct tape. I just did this yesterday, I tried to remove the tool pouches from this sheath, but the leather shrank and I couldn't stitch it back up. So until I get around to making my own sheath or sending this one to Terry, this rig will have to do. What do you think?

I slowly have to raise my hand from the back when you ask who has done this. I did cover mine with a cool layer of "tactical" electrical tape.:D

I'm thinking zip ties & Plasti-Dip........

:D

Try wrapping a damp wet cloth
around that area of the scabbard overnight.

I think that will soften it enough to stretch & re-tie.

Wet wood (swelling/rust) caution afterward.

Too late, it's gone now. Thank you for the suggestion though. The reason I chose this scabbard was because the leather already had a large hole in it, and was generally not up to standard. I figured it would be a good experimental project, I don't really mind that it was ruined. I'm looking forward to trying out one of Terry's offerings.

Edited to add: The khuk was a blem in the first place, so the poor scabbard isn't really a ding on HI. It was sold at half price.

I'd have gone for a layer of saran wrap under the duct tape for waterproofing. That's pretty sweet.

I've always dreamed of a sheath covered with gortex, with an extension you could pull up over the handle and close when it rains, and big places to put a steel and bigger knife.
