Over the years I have been blown away by some members here who have been very generous and very kindly sent me a knife as a gift. Receiving one is humbling and just brings a lot of joy! Each one becomes a prize possession.

Recognizing folks for the gift is a little difficult, though... It's never given to get recognition, so doing so can be awkward.

So I'm starting this thread to be able recognize gifts, but no names.

Tell a story or just share a photo. Tell us what knife-related gifts you have been blessed by.

I'll start...

Carothers EDC with (and the point of this gift specifically) Edge Cut Antique Micarta scales. Very high on the "Holy Smokes!" scale!

ESEE 4 (which I later customized). This is from a member who has become a true friend.

I've been given sheaths, a folder, and materials to make scales. Each one of them holds some great memories.

I've never been gifted a knife on the forums per say, but I have won a few give aways.

I won an orange Ontario rat 1 d2 that I gave to a friend of mine's son for his high school graduation. He used the knife all through college and still loves it. It convinced his dad to ask me about a good knife himself (finishing carpenter for high value homes) and is in love with the PM2 s110v I recommended.

I also won a Becker BK5 sharpened by Jerry Fisk. I gifted it to my father. He loves it.

I also won a yojimbo 2, which I've customized and love.

The greatest gift of all was from my mother, when I was extremely sick from liver failure. I've posted this before, but I was in the hospital and she was looking at my phone and saw a knife I'd been looking at. Next thing I know I'm home from the hospital and a Matt Bailey Model 2 Geek edition flipper is on my night stand.

well i have been gifted knives
by non knife folks.
well, bless em! for being thoughtful.
most as it turns out are souveniars
which are either unsafe or can't cut...
well they tried:-)
i don't expect gifts;
least of all expensive ones
from folks who don't know
a thing about knives :-)
but they are special none the less.
hopefully, someday when i m gone
someone might love them for what they are.

The only knife gift I have ever received is the CRK Lg Sebenza that my wife gave me a short time ago as a wedding anniversary present. This is the same wife that once gave me an H&K P7 for my birthday, and a Marlin 39A for Christmas. Yeah, I’m bragging now......:D

I don't have pictures handy at this moment ... I'll try to add a couple when I can ... but I have been blessed to meet and make a few good friends in my time on the forums. And have been the recipient of a couple very generous acts from fellow members who I consider good friends now.

When I was having no luck getting in on the CPK Friday sales that can be gone in the blink of an eye ... a member saw that and they took it upon themselves to not only secure me a knife I had been trying so hard to get ... but sent it as a gift. I can say that kind of floored me and humbled me. I've seen many acts of generosity like this on the CPK subforum.

I was also gifted a Spyderco Military in M4 by a member and good friend who I had mentioned something to about wanting to try a Spyderco Military and we had talked about my love of M4 steel in my knives. The next thing I knew a razor sharp Military in M4 showed up in my mailbox.

I try to help out members when I can because of the generosity and friendship shown me on here and give back a little to the community.

But it's the friendships that I treasure even more than the gifted knives.

i cant even get gifted knives when i ensure its the only thing on my xmas list.
at every opportune time possible
verbally offer to lend to anyone
(who is in need of a knife)
next bring out your cheapest ever.
make sure its not sharp
so then you can loudly appologize
about it and that you hope to be
blessed with a better knife someday :-)
at worst you might get lucky with
a folding scissors but at least that's a start ,-)

As an addendum to my previous post, I should mention that my first knife was a gift from my great uncle. He gave me a Wenger Nomad for my 7th birthday back in 1986. I had it up until a few years ago, when it disappeared somewhere in my house. It got me started on the knife journey.

It disappeared while I was sick, along with a Bulova watch and a SOG powerassist. I ended up finding the SOG in a random box in the guest room. I guess one of my parents borrowed it and forgot to give it back. It was beat to hell anyway.

In 1991 for my birthday my dad got me a Case kickback, model DR6104L. In my hand right now, still have the leather sheath. It really got me going on the knife hobby.

Be careful what you wish for... a week ago my wife asked me if I might like "a nice knife, you know something special" for father's day. When I told her the one I would dearly love to have, she responded, "well, how much does that one cost?" Up till this point in life she had been blissfully unaware

Hence why I'm happily divorced. I had to sell a big part of my collection to keep us afloat. I divorced her ass because I couldn't afford to support both of us, her not paying for anything. Ugh, unmet expectations.
