So, today we had a convoy in from Black Horse. I finally received a package from Jordy, my Tac-6 ear protection, a care package with a neck gaiter and another pair of gloves, and a stack of mail.

BUT...they didn't send all my mail. Which means I still can't use my laptop, since I still don't have my AC plug...and I still don't have regular access to a phone, since our MWR phone broke, and I can't use my internet phone, since I still can't use my laptop!

And, at the rate we've gotten mail so far, it'll be another month before I get any more.

Okay, rant off. I still have a roof over my head, and I don't have to march every day. I'm still doing well. I just wish I could talk to my friends.

Sorry to hear about the slowness of the mail.

But you're right to look on the bright side. You can "talk" to us all you want at any time of the day and some one will be here to say "Hi, hope you're doing o.k.!"

Hi, hope you're doing o.k.! :D

I am. I just know Jordy would really be happy if we could talk more often, and I could concentrate on my writing more if I could use my laptop instead of our communal computer.

Thats sorry bro. Sorry to hear it.

...on the bright side, I received forty-one postcards and letters from Jordy! :D

I rather superstitiously don't read all the letters I have, so I finally read the last six letters I'd been saving until today.

No HOT SAUCE YET??!! I'm getting ready to send the SECOND package!

Geeze

sorry to hear about the slow service. hang in there. we look forward to when you have your AC cord, and can hear more from you

the last time i was in the gulf, it took 9 months to get a roll of copenhagen to me, the end cans were crushed and the rest were too dry to enjoy. but my sister's cookies were still soft and whole. Packing advice if you're going to send homemade cookies throw a piece of bread in the box before you seal it. no telling how long before you get them if the mail guys don't eat em first. keep your head down and your spirits up.

Well, gotta look at the bright side; somewhere up the line, a couple bureacrats are enjoying some fine hot sauce....

I was told they didn't bring all my mail because I had to sign for it...but I had three packages I had to sign for brought to me.

Not having my cord really mostly impairs my writing. I can pop on and off the internet on the communal computer, but it's bad when serious writing gets disturbed.

You still need wipes, right? I had a nice big unscented pack picked out for you, and my wife thought it was for the baby and opened it. D'oh!

She started to unzip the top as I started saying "N-n-n-nooo!" from across the room, but it was too late.
Back to the store I go Friday night...

Heh. Yeah, I can always use wipes. Fortunately, there were some in "any soldier" packages left in the MWR. Those should hold me for about two more weeks.

No consolation at all to you, but my Uncle Kenny was sent a small fruitcake when he was in N. Africa in WWII, and received it in 1947 back in California. I told them that was an example "slow but steady," he felt it was more like and example of "slow and sometimes." He made a glass case for that fruitcake and had it on the top of his bookcase "forever." Probably there the day he died, by then a weapons-grade fruitcake.
