This place is the best on the internet and good stuff is never ending around here. I was dismayed recently when the new #73's came out. I bought on in OO and had difficulty right away with the stiff opening and my arthritis. Couldn't do it. I saw so many beautiful examples being posted and it was eating away at me that it was a pattern I liked a lot, but essentially unusable for me. Well that all changed today when I checked my mailbox and there was a box from my good buddy Half/Stop Ron. He sent me an '09 #73 Tractor Red Liner Lock. The pull on this one is a very easy 5-6 and is perfect. I'm just blown away by Ron's generosity in sending me this. It's a beautiful knife with very deep jigging (is that what these covers are called?) and great coloring.
I don't know how to thank you Ron. It was great talking to you on the phone this afternoon.

Good looking red right there Bob, even greater people in this forum :D Looks like a tread/track to me. Red track bone~

I know there's a name for it, but it's lost in this feeble brain of mine. Something like bear claw jigged or I don't know. :foot:

Bob, you know, I know your "good people" buddy and therefore so well deserving of a beauty like that, congrats my friend:thumbup:

Ron, you know, I know your good people as well:D:thumbup:

So therefore, I know there are awesome people here that give of their time, knowledge and friendship on a daily basis---yeah I can sing Kumbayah but it wont sound purdy;):p

Way to go guys:thumbup::cool:

+1 I could not have said it better.

Bob, I am very happy to hear that you got the pattern you wanted with the pull you needed.

Ron, you rock.

Chris

Bob, I am certainly glad you finally got your hands on one that was manageable and a fine example it is! A very thoughtful and observant gesture by Ron, well done!

I've been registered here for about two weeks, and in just that short time I've seen more of this sort of thing than just about anywhere else online. Kudos to Ron for the lovely gesture, and to everyone who makes the Traditional forum so groovy!

Very thoughtful gift, Ron!! Just what he wanted, vivid in red, and just look at that smile on Bob's face! Bob, that knife can't help but make you beam:D Makes me smile!

Very nice! Thank you for the post.

Sweet, kind and generous people are OUT there even when some daily 'news' tells us another story!

Beautiful knife! And I "think" that is called worm groove jigging. I've been wrong before and will be again. And FYI, a competent tinkerer can turn many patterns into easy openers so that you can pinch the stubborn blade to open it. They can also lighten the pull required by honing the kick.

And I'm gonna say +5K regarding what Chris wrote, because I couldn't say it any better than he did.
Thanks for sharing this story, Bob, and congrats on getting a 73 you can enjoy.:thumbup:
Well done, Ron; you "pay it forward" at warp speed, sir!:cool::cool::D
