So admittedly, I like to browse certain sites looking at "knife porn", you know, the ones that are super sexy but maybe not exactly what you're after, or the ones way out of your comfort zone $pending wise...

As it were, I was doing just that, when I came across a beaut I couldn't resist... Now, aesthetics play a major roll for me in my knife purchases. Form and function aside, I also have to like what I see... Early on, the Wilson Combat Rapid Response caught my eye, particularly the cocobolo inlay version, but I never did pull the trigger on one for one reason or another, and now I know why, this one was just meant to be...
I didn't even know this was even a thing!? An oldie that caught my eye years ago, but in Damascus with Mammoth!!! Well, now it's all mine as the UPS guy just left, and I can scratch that one off my list...

Justifying the price tag however led me down a rabbit hole of spending, as I also have my first Sebenza (small enigma) as well a pair of my 1st GEC's in route as well....

My true grail is a Bill Bagwell Hells Bell Bowie in Damascus. But as for one's I didn't know existed, I'd say a full-dress Augustus from Kirby Lambert. I've always loved it, but it jumped to the top of my list because I found out he lives in the same place as I do. Talk about buying local.

there is a buck 347, with cpm-20cv steel and brown canvas micarta... I still don't know if I believe it. Is this some kind of unicorn thing?
Nope. It exists. Almost. SK (Silver Knights) Blades. Due by the end of the month.

I did exactly the same thing. I was browsing the expensive knife site and found the exact knife that I was going to have made for me. I didn't even know it existed. I've been on Jason Clark's books for a while now. I hit buy before I even saw the price. It came in at the beginning of this week.

Not sure what I'll have made for me when Clark gets in touch, maybe a user of the same model.

Nice. Also further proof of whatever concept of consumerism says we buy the same things over and over. Essentially the consumer goods version of Homophily - "love of the same." I know I do it.

I don't use the term "Grail" with knives lightly - for me it means something rare, probably expensive, and sought after by others. If not all of those things, the grail reference would not apply. For instance if just money was all it took, it's just expensive. So there has to be more than one obstacle to acquisition - limited supply, high demand, price, constant searching. Just wanting something does not make it a "Grail" knife for me anyway.

All that said, whenever I get into a new maker/brand, there is always lots I did not know existed and inevitably there is something Grail-esque that I must have.

Sinkevich Techno Pichoq

You didn't happen to come across these after listening to the latest episode of the Knife Nuts Podcast, did you? I had no idea Sinkevich was "SiDiS" back in the day. It also took me a while to realize that those are folders, not fixed blades. Awesome stuff!

The only traditional I ever carry or use is an old Uncle Henry, and the only reason I have it is because it was my Grandfather's last knife 30 years ago. Then I saw a GEC Whaler in Ironwood and it really appealed to me, and it was right at the limit of what I can justify spending on a toy for myself. Unfortunately, by the time I realized that they were all gone due to the built-in limitations of GEC's marketing and production strategy. I am not going to get one on the secondary market and pay MORE for a just-released knife to a "scalper." I am putting the Whaler in the Grail category, and maybe in a couple of years the furor will die down.

I did not, haven't listened to any of them yet. If I recall BladeScout BladeScout was the one who pointed out that Techno.

Yes, I did post the Techno at some point.
I dont know, if I was the first to post a pic here, as I stumbled over the great looking folder else where and right away was blown away.
You suggested a ZT collab, right? - I concur.

I suggested indeed, I'd rather insist but I doubt anybody at KAI/ZT would care about that :D
