It looks much better sans the finish IMO. Also I always got a kick out of Ka-bar calling that big hefty (ok not just super hefty but still more so than a typical machete) thing a "grass machete" I imagine it would be better for branches and lighter wood. I like it.

I love mine as well! I have cleared and limbed soo many trees and brush with it. However....I am beginning to get a wiggle in the grip. Is there a way to fix that?

Weep some epoxy or super glue into the handle. Some of the eatly models had some play in the handle. Not to worry, the handle will noy come off, you have to remove the lanyard tube for that to happen.

Depends on the grass you're talking about...bamboo is a true grass :)
 
Love mine, contemplating a stacked leather handle in the same shape for it, not sure how I would do the pommel though.
 
Ok, I been leaving the coating on mine, but after seeing El Biscuitero's Grass 'Chete, I'm thinking some more Jasco is in my future......

If you cut off any substantial branches off of that hickory, let me know. Hickory makes a great walking stick or hiking staff. That looks like a work horse of a machete. Hickory is pretty tough.
