Well, maybe its not so great LOL,

I really like the following that RAT cutlery has...people who own RAT knives love them to DEATH and they stand behind RATs products...My problem is that i would love to try a RAT knife, but i would like to see a test done between RAT and another great knife company, Fallkniven.

From and honest unbiased source, i want to see the RC5 and RC6 VS the A1 and the RC4 VS the S1 and the RC3 VS the F1.

It would be an all out slug fest. I think that in these forums, the majority likes, loves and is obsessed with RAT knives. I cant blame them either, they are a wicked product and look very apealing.

But if you were to test these knives against eachother, i think the outcome would be suprising. The Fallkniven knives look very basic, but are extremely strong and made with excellent steel.

Fallknivens to me look like a tough bushcraft/survival knife.

RAT knives to me look like a tactical/survival knife.

Both knives would apeal to different people.

But i would really like to either debate over this topic, or if somone out there can legitimately test some of these knives back to back and report thier findings..

I have the A1, but dont own a RAT cutlery knife, only an Ontario Rat5. Otherwise i would host the test(s)

Any takers? To me this is like two of the biggest kids on the block about to fight LOL

Anyway, thanks for any information and or replies to my thread.

check out knifetests.com

I saw the video on the RC4 and A1..pretty cool..but i was thinking more of a real world test.

Like for example, if you were lost and had to survive for a month..would your edge stay sharp ? Or would it get dull after a week of use and no maintenance?

Does the sheath just look nice or does it protect you from potential injury in the event of a fall and does it protect the blade while not deployed?

real world tests. Not destruction tests. But as a note, both knives were exceptional on knifetests.com

How about:
Bear Grylls gets the RC knives
Les Stroud gets the Fallknivens

They both go out doing a mock show like usual, only no motel 8 (Grylls:rolleyes:) and they stay out in the woods for at least a month. The only knives they get are the ones you listed. That way we all get to watch the entertainment of these two guy's shows and at the end of the show they can compare and contrast the differences in the knives (and damage if any)

Actually, lets make it an entire season with different places over the world. The knives will have to go through each environment.

It would be an even comparison if both guys got both companies- that way you get to see Grylls destroy both and Les use both and see which knife comes out ahead for each guy. You have them start off in the same spot each week and go to a point opposite directions and see the difference in each guy's travels (not a race).

LOL yeah that would be good entertainment for sure.

I know you cant tents the knives i listed in every climate, in every way possible.
I thought i'd just start a thread on the topic of which company produces the better knife.

Fallknivens won't rust.
RCs cost less.

That's about all I can think of for now. If anybody is willing to send me a large collection of both blades, I'm sure I can field test them. Expect it to take a long time though.:D

The best knife is the one you feel most comfortable with. Comparing which one is better would all be in the opinion of the user, they are both very good knives/companies that target similar markets.

why do i get the feeling no one wants this one to play out LOL

Because like I said in post #11, there is no end, the knives are both very good at what they do and besides that the subject has been beat to death and in the end its all about what the user likes best.

I've got an S1. I really need a RAT, so I can compare the two for myself. If the handle it more comfortable, I'd probably give the RAT the edge as the S1 isn't gentle on your skin at all.

Almost every knife will pass a knife test, Just like every car will pass a car test. Its when you start adding increasingly difficult performance requirements, and destruction elements do the knives, and cars start to separate themselves.

Me personally....I love knives using 1095 and others that fall into that category for real use. Takes an unbelievable edge an it's easy to maintain. A little oil and it's good to go.
