I know this may not be the place to post this,so,Mr moderator, feel free to move.........After looking through the posts here his morning,i saw that rocketman has served this country.I know that ''SAR" is also a Veteran.I know there are others that have served this Country, past and present.I would like to say thank you and may God bless you and your families for the sacrfices that they and you have made......I would like to know of others(they do not have to be on BF) that are here or that you know that have served and are still serving this country, and again thanks.............Again Mr moderator if this should not be here,i am sorry.

We live in the most wonderful country on the planet because of the folks, like SAR & Rocketman, that have served in the Armed Forces. I'll join with you in saying Thank you , from the bottom of my heart.

2 of my nephews from the the Covington area left for boot camp in the last month, just out of high school. Travis Franti to the Marines & Ronny Chagnon to the Army, . Both of them are outstanding young men who I'm sure, will serve with honor.

HK, imho, there is never an inappropriate place to say "Thanks for your Sacrifice". This is perfect

I have two sons in the USNavy that I brag about every chance I get, both Petty Officers. I have the highest degree of respect and appreciation for those who have served this country past and present. Does this country have problems? Yes. Does our economy suck right now? Yes... But you kow what... IT"S STILL AMERICA!!! Thanks to those who risk their asses to keep it safe and free. With every fiber of my being, with every drop of my blood, I thank you, soldier, for freedom!

Actually, this is not appropriate. Shop Talk is for technical affairs and Around the Grinder was provided for off-topic posts, so I'll move this there.

HK,

Thank you for the kind words and appreciation. I to served for 8 years in the US Air Force from Dec 1987 to Feb 1996. As a veteran it always nice to feel appreciated, so many in the current world forget those that sacrificed so that they can have what they have.

Well said Erik!

I couldn't be more proud of our men and women fighting for us! Hell, they don't even have to be doing any fighting...I'm just proud that they made the decision to enlist, and be a part of the big family. -Matt, Former Marine-

I have a son thats leaving for Afghanistan next month. Its his second tour across the pond. I served 12 years in the Navy. Kuwait liberation and a few other campaigns. I wish I could have stayed in and retired from it. Blew out the shoulder in a non-work accident. No goodies for me:eek:

Thanks for all the responses guys, and thanks again for serving. If it is a son or daughter that is now serving, tell them i said thanks.I know there must be others out there that have served,or know those that have served in the past.I'd like to hear.

Thanks for the kind words HK. I have one son that has two tours in the sand box along with one son-in-law. I have another son-in-law right now that is in the Air Force and stationed on a little island just south of Japan. Unfortunately he has my daughter there along with my new granddaughter. I also have a daughter and another son-in-law that are in the Guard and supposed to leave this Spring. Yes I have a large family. :)

I volunteered to serve in the U.S Navy from 81-85. I first served on board a Destroyer that was out of Norfolk, VA. and saw some time in the Mediterranean and the Suez Canal and then went to serve on a Repair Ship out of Oahu, HI for two WestPacs. It was an experience that I will never forget and I can say that I am proud to have served.

I too am thankful for all those that have served and those that continue to serve our Great country, USA!

US Air Force - '66-'73. Military was not very popular in those days. Much protesting over Viet Nam. I am glad I was able to serve, and would go back again if they would have me.
