I was looking through the difference between the bk2 generations (original, blackjack, Camillus, and Kabar) and as I saw how the knife evolved, I began to wonder what generation Beckerheads preferred. What's your favorite generation if Becker? Is there any knife in that generation that made you go wow... This is what a knife should be.

Post pics please!

Hands down I think the best looking Becker EVER is the Blackjack BK5. I know the new 5 has improved, but visually the Blackjack is wowza!

Can only speak for myself, but this is my first and favorite. Mr. Becker designs a fine knife.

I agree that it is a sexy thing. Wowza is right. Now about the pics ;) Here ya go:

Edit: I believe this is Guyon's pic, but I can't be sure...

Camillus BK9's are sexy. Although I believe Ka-Bar makes a a superior product.

I'm going to go with the Camillus BK1, it was my first 6"+ knife and also the first knife I researched and saved $$ to buy... Now I wish I'd have bought 2 more before they went out of business...

I've never seen a Becker knife prior to Kabar making them. I really like Blackjack knives however and the 125 classic is one of my favorites in A-2. Thanks for the photo of the Blackjack version.

I bought them from the KaBar booth at the 2012 Blade show. I put them directly on the knife and have done nothing but use it. I have seen some slight variations in color and they will darken with use.

I was going to surmise that they developed a dark patina from Trade's greasy fingers...

I used some Rit dye on a set to darken them from the get go, and that works well if you let is sit a lot longer than the directions call for (and I used some salt in the mix as well to help the dye set).

Edit: I got the Rit dye at Wally World and used the liquid concentrate, following directions for dilution (a lot smaller batch than the directions are for, so math is required).

Where do you buy that stuff? Powder or ?

If talking specifically about the BK-2, I think the latest 2nd-gen kabar with the laser etch is definitely the best iteration.

Thanks for putting the pic up. I was on my phone when I replied and couldnt download the pic. Yes, that 5 is AWESOME! LOL

Thanks for your input, that makes me want to buy a new one instead of scrounging for a Camillus or Blackjack.

P.S. I meant all Becker knives, not just the BK-2. Feel free to post your favorite knife ;)

Unless you're a collector I wouldn't waste the time or money looking for an older model. The Kabar version has a superior heat treat and that's where it's at.

Ugh. Gross. Math. Who likes math? Masochists, that's who.

I cant really comment on which manufacturer made them better, but I do really like the tweeners.
