The Greatest Viking Battle Sword Of All Time!!! . . . The Busse Viking Long Serpent Pics Are Here!!!

Why is it called The Viking Long Serpent?

The Ormen Lange, also known as the "Long Serpent", was a legendary Busse Viking Longship built for King Olav Tryggvason.

It was the most powerful Viking Longship of all time!

Our Viking Heritage . . . The Busse Viking Warship

The Busse class longships were the most prestigious Viking warships.
The Busse was large, with sizes up to 50 meters, or approximately 160 feet in length.
Fitted with both sails and oars, a Busse could have up to 35 pairs of oars, allowing it to travel with speed, utilizing any propulsion method.

The Busse was capable of carrying a large cargo, which was beneficial on large-scale raids, where the Vikings would look to take as much treasure home as possible.
The Busse was thought to have carried a crew of around 80 Vikings.
The scale and size of the Busse also allowed the Viking raids to travel further afield.
The larger cargo holds meant the journeys across the oceans would be feasible compared to the smaller ship classes.

The design and balance make this my favorite sword of all time!

Very nice probably $2000? Typo in the boat name, perhaps intentional.

I got 30 to 31 blade length estimate based on :
"The Long Serpent blade is a full 2 inches wide in front of the handle and tapers down to 1.2 inches when measured two inches from the tip! 🆒"

With about 6.5 -7 inch handle
My final estimate (3rd edit) using the one pic only (even though the angle on it makes the guess a little tougher) is slightly less than this. 30" OAL would likely be pretty close.

I basically used extra large hand with pictures that gabe me 31 blafe 40 oal

Then i used moab dimensions and pictures from site to get relative comparison that gave me 30 to 31.

Then did a separate comparison based Jerry's quote which gave me 30 inch blade

Looks like Convexed penetrating tip, with deep dish hollow grind blade. I would have preferred hollow grind instead of deep dish down the blade, thinking like a Viking here ..
but for what I would use it for it might fill the niche….
Good news, my friend! The blade features a very shallow hollow bevel for strength and durability!

The bevel looks deep in the pics because of the sharp grind lines, but it is not.

It is ready for the battlefield!
