While working on a more complicated presentation bowie lately, I decided to do this one at the same time, for a customer - a super-simple utility piece I first made 2 years ago at the start of my knifemaking career. Except this one is RWL-34 powdered steel, cryo-ed, triple tempered - 60HRC, satin hand rubbed. The handles are Jade G10, very thin with my favourite "dot-jigged" random pattern texturing. Just to be clear, I didn't copy Rob Simonich's Gunner-Grip. Mine's just a "messy" version and an extension of jigged bone handles. The Kydex sheath & attachment allows multipostion carry, incl. being adjustable for cant in both strong side and crossdraw positions. Thanks for looking. Jason.

Hmmm... the finish. I didn't realise there was anything interesting about it. I thought this is what a satin hand rub looks like...;)

The way I'm doing it these days is to go up the grits to one grade OVER the desired finish. I buff gently to a satin polish, then go back and apply the satin finish. Eg.- if I were after 1200, I'd go up 400, 800, 1200, 1500 or 2000 grit, then buff lightly, then go back and do the 1200grit finish - this ensures no scratches are left behind. This one is 1200grit finish as the final "scratch". Jason.
