I've always like the Grohmann blade shape as a hunting/slicing blade and over the years have tried my own designs using it. Not because I think there's anything wrong with them, it was just a challenge to see what I could do. This is probably as close as I'll ever come. While not as extreme as the Grohmann, it's basically the same shape. Should do a good job cutting things. The blade is 4.5 inches of 1/8 inch 154CM cryo'd by D'holder. The handle is some of my burlap jcarta with copper trim. It's 9 inches OAL and weighs 6.5 ounces.

I love the Grohmann knife shape but it can`t hold a candle to your knife. Love the shape, love the copper. Great knife

I said influence, not clone. My idea was to use the blade shape they have popularized because it is quite useful. The elliptical blade shape isn't found much in this part of the world, although popular in other cultures, except for the Grohmann's and their clones. The closest we tend to come are Loveless style semi-skinners, Nessmuks and some of the green rivers; although they can hardly be considered elliptical. Occasionally I see a "willow leaf" blade done by another knifemaker, but that's about it.
