Does anyone have a clue what auto Costner uses in the movie to cut loose the kid that is tied to his dead shipmates?

I'm just guessing, 'cause I haven't seen the movie. But, last I heard, Coast Guard R.S.'s are issued Benchmade AFO autos...

i dont understand why they would give a swimmer a knife they can open with one hand but not close with one hand. just from a logical point of view, i would think you would want to be able to retract the blade as quickly and easily as you could get it out.

btw good movie, the end was a little to dramatic for me but it was still good. it was hard to take ashton seriously at first until i heard that he wanted to gothrough the training for RS and then got the cast to do it with him pretty much. made me feel proud (my dad was in for 20 years, wasnt a RS but did some search and rescue on ships mostly)
