Finally!!! I stopped of at the bookstore tonight to get some reading material for my vacation to Florida tomorrow. I swore I wasn't going to read Tactical Knives until I got on the plane LOL... But as I was packing my bag I saw the finally covered the Gunting!!! So much for reading on the plane!!! Michael Janich does a great job describing a truly awesome knife... Congrats, Sal and Bram! I hope all who read the article go out and purchase one.

2 more sets, and a Chinook and Ayoob too! LOL
I sure hope Janich and Spyderco team up for a production knife soon too.

It was the first in depth article I've seen on the Gunting in a major Knife magazine. It should have been on the front cover!
At least there is a full page color picture of the Gunting , trainer, and the Skunkworks belt sheaths on page 17.

Great article, it's going to be fun working with both Bram and Mike at Spyderco this month. Get another set?, I just bought my 4th set on tuesday. Someone had a set on E-bay, and I bought them. Al

An official thank you to Steve22595 for bringing Bram Frank,Frank Olesen and of course the Gunting to Vancouver.

Anyman,
Do you see a difference in the new Guntings? They are supposed to be "Tweaked" a little from the factory. My older Gunting,#275, is still going strong.

Mickey,

Excuse my as I jump in here on this. I spent several hours talking with Vince (Spyderco's chief engineer) while consuming mas quantities of wonderful Sushi in New Orleans.

What he told me was the profile of the lever that is part of the compression lock has been changed slightly to increase the speed of its engagement.

I have worked with dozens of both the first run and the latest and they all lock up instantly on kenetic opening. Bram got one batch that didn't lock up as they should. The entire run was returned and the problem corrected as described.

To my knowledge none of these made it past Bram.

Thanks guys!! Mike janich did a great job..
as for not being on the cover..I'm shocked.. I thought we were innovative enough to be on the cover..

BUT.I'm still VERY happy @ Tactical Knives for the story.. BUT they deleted a "sidebar" by Mike on CSSD/SC, Edges2, Skunkworks and Video Quest..hmmm whats with that I wonder..

Maybe we get another story on its training cycle and MBC...

BUT THANK YOU MIKE JANICH and TACTICAL KNIVES..( thanks Steve Dick!!!!)

ahhh home from Vancouver and off to SPYDERCO..

Hey I wasn't the ONLY one buying out the store on TACTICAL KNIVES....

Datu Shishir Inocalla took time off from his filming schedule to come vist me @ the seminar...
and was Scott ( Brennan) excited,,he happened to have an original copy of Shishir's Balisong tape with him so Shir signed it..( nope he didn't know Shir was coming..)
Shir calls the GUNTING the Balisong of the Millennium..
Scott seemed prety happy wih it!!!

Terry,
What's with you
eating "fishbait"?You will do ANYTHING to get on Bram's good side! Bram ain't gonna convince me to eat THAT,not while steak is around! No way!Jody couldn't get me to eat Sushi & she's a "lot" more attractive than
Bram & nicer too!
