Thought some of you might appreciate this story.....

So my Aunt gave me this bottle of scotch that she said has been in her basement for a while as she or my uncle do not really drink. Since they know I enjoy whiskey; they figured I would appreciate it and it wouldn't be just sitting in their basement. Granted I usually drink Irish whiskey (Powers Gold Label), but I am not one to refuse a gift of some good whiskey of any persuasion.

Wow what a beauty that was stored in the box and original tissue paper. Best I can tell from some quick research, based on the tax stamps and wording on the bottle, this bottle is around 20 years old.

It still has the federal tax stamp on it, and I want to keep it on; so how do I open it up to drink but keep the stamp?

Ahh the ever ready Small 21 Sebenza to the rescue:

Tax stamp intact and some fine old scotch in my glass........thanks for the help Seb.

Good ole Seb. How did you like the scotch? That's the brand my Dad drank when I was a kid and of course I would also get the odd sip.

Was the bottle corked or screw capped ?

I have had some :grumpy::foot: moments with old bottles of rum / single malts and broken corkes.

It was a screw cap surprisingly, I was expecting a cork.

While Scotch is not my first choice, most of the people I work with are Scotch drinkers so I have developed an appreciation for it.

This whisky is actually my boss's favorite so I have had it a fair amount in the past. This bottle definitely is more smokey than other times I remember.

Being Scottish I suppose I'm expected to have an appreciation for it but I much prefer rum and only really have the occasional Isla malt.

Over here in Taiwan people just assume because im from Scotland I will drink any old whiskey, I have been handed some really bad stuff in bars here....
It's nearly enough for me to put my Sebenza to good use of another kind.......:D
