For the last eight months we have had in our care foster daughters who are now nine months and three years old .The mother, and the father of the older girl are still on drugs. They are no longer together and the mother has not had a visit in five months. The fathers parents flew in from a village tonight and will take the oldest for the weekend. The goal is always reunification, but it is still very hard.
Both these girls have my heart. As Mothers Day approaches I have been reflecting in awe at he the progress that has been made since their arrival. They had been living in a drug house for several months. The oldest was insecure and had behavior problems. The babys head was misshapen from neglect and had a condition they called failure to thrive.
With my wifes incredible mothering skills they are now happy well adjusted children.
I know they will leave us soon and our hearts will be ripped out. My wife will say we will never do this again and we will get a call in the middle of the night and we will start over again.
God Bless Mothers
