For the last eight months we have had in our care foster daughters who are now nine months and three years old .The mother, and the father of the older girl are still on drugs. They are no longer together and the mother has not had a visit in five months. The father’s parents flew in from a village tonight and will take the oldest for the weekend. The goal is always reunification, but it is still very hard.
Both these girls have my heart. As Mothers Day approaches I have been reflecting in awe at he the progress that has been made since their arrival. They had been living in a drug house for several months. The oldest was insecure and had behavior problems. The baby’s head was misshapen from neglect and had a condition they called failure to thrive.
With my wife’s incredible mothering skills they are now happy well adjusted children.
I know they will leave us soon and our hearts will be ripped out. My wife will say we will never do this again and we will get a call in the middle of the night and we will start over again.

God Bless Mothers

Thank you for what y'all do and God Bless you both. tf

I can partially relate...my wife and I were foster parents for enough years to have thirteen (mostly newborns) come through the door. Although most were waiting for adoption, we did have one or two older kids who had been abused and were removed from their families. When they leave it will rip your hearts out, but remember, there are more kids who'll need and appreciate your kindness. Best Wishes ;)

trane fan]Thank you for what y'all do and God Bless you both.

God bless you for your love & compassion. We did similar work when we were younger.Someone asked what we tried to teach these children while they were with us. " We set good examples,Told them about God & prayed it would be absorbed ." was our response. We were able to not ask for money so people knew we were for real. It was like an experiment but it was a long term wait for the results. The results paid us for the hard work many times over.

" God loveth a cheerful giver", God loves you & so do i !

Uncle Alan :) :) :)

As the father of two adopted children, I thank God for all of the good foster parents out there.

I was kind of emotional when I wrote this I can not bear the thought of these girls leaving. The visit with the grandmother went well and it seems that there are no family members that will take them. They will soon start the posses of terminating the parent’s rights. We would love to adopt them but the chances are slim. They are Alaska Native and that makes it very hard. We have four daughters and the two of them that are adopted are native. They were placed with us by family and were never in the system making it much easier. We are praying for a miracle.

Yup thats a good way to sum it up! Doing good like that knowing yer gonna get yer heart thumped does not go unoticed by the big Boss ;) You can't out give God whether it be time money or love... it will come back to you many fold! God Bless-you both and anyone who does that stuff!

Ralph Waldo Emerson says, "There is a class of persons to whom by all spiritual affinity I am bought and sold; for them I will go to prison, if need be" (from the essay "Self-Reliance").

Congratulations on having found persons to whom by all spiritual affinity you are bought and sold.

Peace,
Mike
