Since Kareena keeps creeping into the (my?) threads...I thought it only right that she appear ;). She's there now [photo updated]!

cheers all, B.

Yangdu, the Nepali shipping staff, and old Uncle Bill got a huge AM laugh out of this one. Great work!!!!!!!!!!

Those khukuris on the wall look dangerously poised to slide off that shelf and stick somebody below...

Thanks Uncle Bill! :D

I wanted some sort of pic for the Cantina link on my page and one thing lead to another....

ruel--I didn't add the khukuris on the wall, they're in the original photo....

cheers, B.

WHY,did you have to post that pic of John holding that Ivory handled K! Just look at the smirk on his face!:( I hate it when he smirks like that!!

I doubt those guys would let me in their shop!

The least you could have done was have me holding Kareena instead of the newly resized kukri. It's just another ivory handled kukri...dime a dozen. Right Jim?

It's a great effort, Beo. Pala will have a good laugh out of this one, too.

Thanks again. Updated a bit more--changed sign (so that I'm not just stealing [Foxy's?] HI logo and pasting it on....looks more like a real sign now) and added another 'Nepali spoken here' sign.

At least I think I did. The Nepali script has a few differences from the nagari-style I'm used to and handwritten nagari is always hard for me to read....is it correct?

Is the charater which is a bit like a backward's 3 with a loopy-tail (the second character in the 1st word & the last characte in the last word)--is that 'dd'?

I'm reading (in roman) something like 'yadaam nepali bhaaSaa botindda'--anything close? I get 'nepali' and 'bhaaSaa', semantically-speaking.

cheers again, B.

OK, John, in the next update I'll let you hold Kareena--but you'll need to get rid of the kukri then....if you just send it my way, I imagine I can arrange something with Kareena (at least in terms of digital manipulation, er, computer graphics that is.... :p ).

Seriously, speaking of getting rid of khukuris....if you're going to do another kukri-from-the-rubbish-box contest, there is a trivia question associated with this photo....

cheers, B.

Beo, the sign is right -- roughly "Nepali spoken here."

You've got it right except for the first word. It's "yaha" (here) -- everything else is right.

Thanks Uncle Bill, I'll fix it up in a bit.

'Yaha', of course. 'Yah', 'Vah'; "here", "there" in Hindi.

Though it looks to me like it's actually 'yahã' with a nasalised 'a', because there's what looks like an 'anusvara' sign over it (the cresent with the dot over the top bar....crescent and a dot....crescent and a dot....I'm going mad with crescents and dots!! ;) )

cheers, B.
