I noticed that the hilt was loose on my pilots survival knife that I've never used, and now my marine fighting knife with serrations and sawback, that I've lightly used, that hilt is loose also. What gives? (no pun intended)

Damn, I don't have the boxes for either.

Dang, thats not fun. Sometimes leather will shrink or expand do to weather and climate, and local heat sorces. Hopefully thats all it is. I'd talk to Camillus about this. They will make it right. :)

I think every leather handled knife in my collection is in that same shape right now. Ka-Bar, Ontario, Camillus and some very rare old M3 trench knives. As Wildmanh pointed out, it's the dry wintertime heat. The leather shrinks just enough to loosen things up. Come July and August, here in Michigan, some humidity in the air, and things will tighten back up.

Pecard's leather preservative is recommended by some people, although I've had good results using a damp cloth on the handles.
