This looks like a KILLER blade to me. I was watching some youtube reviews and a guy stated 2 years ago that it was discontinued. Checked the website and the satin combo edge shows a discontinued icon. Most stores have them in stock as well. Has this model been discontinued? I ask because one of the reasons I buy Benchmade knives is their incredible warranty and service.

As you mentioned, according to BKC web page, 14460S out of 4 models indicates being discontinued. It is older Nitrous assist, so BKC may want to concentrate on newer models?

When they discontinue the regular production model, we all think the sales may be not meeting profitable level. (After all they manufacture and assemble in USA where labor costs are not known as "cheapness".) Perhaps some of the parts are discontinued by supplier.

IMO, I rather have HK14715 with AXIS lock, D2 steel instead of 154cm, and still in production.

The 14715 has a thicker handle and is a heavier knife. I would prefer the 154cm steel as well. I like that the 14460 is a liner lock because it can have titanium liners vs. steel liners for the axis lock.

The knife looks like it would be a good EDC. Anyone have experience with it?

Do NOT worry about the warranty. I have requested parts for a few discontinued models and had no issues. You're safe buying it. They'll fix any problems that come up.

I have the coated/serrated version. That knife is one of the main reasons why I don't like benchmade. At 95 bucks it's way overpriced for what it is. It's definitely not the knife for me. And just to show I'm not a complete knife snob, today my edc was a 15 dollar sog Pendleton lite hunter. My normal edc is a zt 0561. Weak knife, thin lock bar, poor heat treat on the blade, thin liners equals flimsy handles, assisted opening on it is beat hands down by any blur with a working spring, the g10 is super slick, and the coating on both the blade and clip comes off super easily leaving the knife looking super worn super fast. Other than those issues, it's a good knife.

Dang...all the youtube videos I've read have been positive. :(

100 is overpriced for a titanium liner lock with 154CM?

I thought the same thing until I got it and felt how flimsy it was and how easily the coating came off the blade and all the rest. For others it may serve their purposes very well. I just gave my honest opinion about the knife. To me, it doesn't stack up. Maybe it'll be different for others. To each their own.

Knifeworks is selling the uncoated version for $92. Add a opinel or a mora and you get free shipping on orders over $99. http://www.knifeworks.com/benchmadehandknitrousblitzplainedge.aspx#.U6gD4UO8q24 I will admit that I payed about $85 for mine and it was worth every penny. One of my all time favorite knives. Really useful blade shape and, if you can sharpen, 154cm is a good steel. No, the liner lock is not the thickest but if you make the lock fail, you shouldn't be using folding knives in the first place. The ONLY reason I am not carrying mine more is because it is assisted. Something that is easily fixed on this model, I just haven't taken the time. Assisted is not bad when I am off but I am not carrying assisted knives to work right now. And I have been working a lot recently.

OP, you will have to make your own decision. I like this knife but Bodog did not. Different people have different taste in knives.

I really like mine,it is light weight ,good steel the g10 is a little slick,to me this knife should be considered a gentleman's knife -if you look at it in that light it is an awesome knife, thin blade makes it an excellent slicer, you basically can't feel it in your pocket, and easy to put an edge on it......................not meant for batoning thats for sure

I appreciate your opinion. And yes ultimately I will have to decide whether to plunk the money down or not. Just wanted to get some opinions from people who actually have and use the knife.

You are right about the G10. I was used to the peel ply G10 texture so when I got the Blitz it felt a little slick. But I got used to it.

It is always a good idea to get more info on a knife you are considering.

A gentleman's knife that wants to be a tactical knife, that's a great way to put it. I do have to say that it's a great piercing knife. I wish that the assisted opening was stronger and that it had a better quality coating on both the blade and pocket clip. The other stuff could be overlooked on a 100 dollar knife. It's pretty chippy at 18 degrees per side which isn't really that acute of an angle. I've had 154cm perform so much better on other knives. I wonder if I just got an all around dud. Crap happens, but with me it seems to happen with every knife I've gotten from BM with the exception of a mini-grip. Got that new for around 50 bucks and felt that it was good at that price. Everything else has been a real letdown.

You must have gotten a dud, as I keep my 950 Rift with 154CM at 17º per side with no chipping issues at all. Benchmade's painted clips are not that impressive, but you can request a parkerized one, and they'll send it free of charge. The BK blade coating they used on their knives sucked, frankly. The Cerakote is better, but it wasn't meant to be a knife coating. It was meant to protect guns from the elements.
