What a Knife!!!! Especially the name!! Gotta love it! Just Gotta love it!!
Where did such a name come from anyway?

Driscoll

J.R.R. Tolkein's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.
The lead character and our hero is Bilbo Baggins and he is a Hobbit. Along with Faeries, Goblins, Orcs, Dragons, Wizards and so on.
If you have not read these books, they are one of the most enjoyable series in the world of Fantasy Fiction and are classics. Check them out. You'll love'em.

If a man says something in the woods and there are no women there to correct him, is he still wrong?

That's what I thought!!! I'm glad someone else made that connection!! It's really obvious, no one could say that the knife wasn't playing off Tolkien.......

Driscoll

I think also it makes reference to its creator, Bob Taylor, who is (ahem)reported to be a little short so his FRIENDS call him the "hobbit" from hell.

You mean to tell me that the "Hobbit" knife was named after "The Hobbit" book?!?!? There could be some problems there, I'll have to check it out

ARCANE

No problems, especially since last time I checked, books and knives are two different name categories.

Driscoll, Arcane, why do you both use the same ISP?

Excite is a free mail server much like Hotmail, I never use my real email for public posting due to spammers that use programs that filter address out of newgroups and pages like this forum

Driscoll

ISP, Internet service provider, not Email provider. I'm aware of Free Email providers...

That doesn't answer my question though. Your IP numbers (see the bottom right corner of your post, they are logged for a reason) match up as you both coming from hitter.net, a local small ISP in Florida. As a matter of fact, the numbers match up so closely that I'm beginning to think that you and Arcane are one and the same. Hmmmmmm. Maybe I should do some more digging on that....

I take a very dim view on people who register under several names to cause problems.

Dig Away!!!! Take any dim views as you please. I use Excite mail because I'm never home to check my personal mail and enjoy the ability to send mail from anywhere, so it should log in as several different ISP's, at any given time. My ISP is Excel, if you wish I will give you a valid VOICE number (through personal email) in which to contact me in Virginia, then we can clear up any misunderstanding.

I mean to cause no trouble, I will gain nothing no matter which way the boat rocks, as you said books are book and knives are knives, but what if I invented a new knife and called it the Mickey Mouse blade of death? Disney would have a few choice words.
This was what I meant to point out, I have no plans to run around ratting out everyone on a general basis. If anyone was offended I appoligize.

ARCANE

See, that's where you are wrong.

Trademarks fall under categories, etc. Hobbit is a common English word, Mickey Mouse is a product name that's trademarked, copyrighted, etc. There's a difference. If REKAT was calling it the Tolkien Hobbit or something similar, yeah, there would be a problem, but other than that, there's no case.

Second, regardless of however many ISP's you have, the ISP that you were logged in from at the time was hitter.net, which coincidentally is the same ISP that Driscoll uses. Second, tracking the ISP that you just posted from, it says that you are located in Ocala, Florida, which also just happens to be the same area as Driscoll. The coincidence's are amazing.

Identity impersonation and hiding behind aliases is not an excuse here. If you are worried about spam, turn off your email from showing.

You can email me offline with this, but for now I'm following up on my end.

This one is from Vancouver, CA!!
If you like I'll show you one from JAPAN!!

I never said I had a problem with SPAM, that was Driscoll. The Hobit IS a registered tradename, copyright, you can check it out on the web, just search for Tolkien

Arcane

Arcane reporting in from San Diego, CA now, or Las Mesa or both depending on how you look at it!!

Arcane

Now I'm in Jose....

Coincidences.......Not so amazing anymore huh? Give me any state or even country and I can appear to come from there...........
CA is real easy, so is FL, and most of the east coast, all you have to do is look up and IP on the forum. But this isn't the topic of discussion, I made a comment and my integrity was questioned, I was sincere in wanting to discuss the name hobbit, with no hidden motives. But we can drop that too, since it seems to offend someone.

Arcane

PS One of Bob Taylor's aliases is The Hobbit from Hell.

Cheers,

What part of private email don't you get?

You want to discuss this, take it offline, because how you are acting now is starting to tick me off.

You just showed that you have the abilities of any wannabe hacker. Big deal, I'm not impressed that you managed to download a piece of software that's widely distributed. I know about IP spoofing, that isn't hard to do, but if you want to play, we can play.

Anyhow, again "The Hobbit" is not the same as Hobbit Warrior, or Pocket Hobbit. Deal with it.

And yes, I question the integrity of anyone who -

  • Has a first post that implies an attack
  • Has the IP address of another poster who also makes it a habit to go after others
  • Hides behind a free email address and an alias
  • and finally shows that they are IP spoofing to try to prove a point.

These are not marks of integrity. Play your games elsewhere.

Spark,

Have you heard a word I've said? or do you enjoy playing the fool?

First of all, concerning the "hobbit", this discussion ceased to have anything to do with that a long time ago, like I said, DROP IT, LET IT GO!!!! as I also said "I LEGITIMATELY WANTED TO DISCUSS THE USE OF THE NAME!!!" and once again "I IMPLIED NOTHING!!!" it's too bad I can't scream through email to get it through your thick head.

I'm beginning to tick you off?! Your entire responses are keyed around ASSUMPTIONS, with no basis in fact. I am NO kind of hacker, wannabe or otherwise, I use NO kind of software other than a common browser.

So why don't I make a little list to show the world of almighty Spark's ass out of you ass out of me track of thinking.

1. In my orginal post I stated that their might be a problem with the name "hobbit", I then left to research the issue and would report back here for further discussion, this is a disscussion board right? or is it Sparks little world of attitude.

2. You ACCUSE me of hacking, IP Spoofing and using shady software. You are dead wrong on all accounts, all you did was point an uneducated finger and state an ingnorant opinion. I don't suppose you have ever heard of using a PROXY server have you? A perfectly legal means of surfing the net, in common use by COLLEGES around the world, it allows a large group of people to surf THROUGH a server to better access and speed, OH MY GOD!! the Florida Community College is in Ocala FL, which is why I might get bumped through local servers there. But this can't possibly be the truth because it would make you look stupid right?

3. You stated that you question the integrity of anyone who "Hides behind a free email address as an alias", you just called every single member of BladeForums who uses Excite, Lycos, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.. a LIAR OF QUESTIONABLE INTEGRITY. Way to administrate Spark... way to go.

4. Anyone with half the brain of a monkey can go back and read my orginal post, I implied no attack, that was just another version of "SPARK'S WISH WORLD OF TRUTH AND FOOLISHNESS"

5. "has the IP address of someone who makes it a habit to go after others" Last time I checked this was America and one couldn't get punished for another's crimes, don't drag me into someone else's mess, and don't drag someone else into mine, as I tried to explain before, I can have many IP address depending on the PROXY SERVER NETWORK, but this seems to be your main argument, it's dry and stale, stop the broken record act. I supposed I'm guilty of the bad dealings of the thousands of others on the internet too?

6. And finally you said "What part of private email don't I get?" Let me clue you in we are both guilty of that, not just me spark, you make a public post pointing the finger and calling me a liar, and then like an idiot expect me not to publicly defend myself?

So far I have only responded to you, but let's for a second listen to me make judgements of you:

Spark, wipe off your nose, and quit playing the supportive monkey to the VIP's on the forum. It is my OPINION (something you fail to state when you speak) that if someone comes to a screaching halt you end up with you head up thier butt.

I imagine I'll get kicked off the forum for this, becuase "I'm ticking almighty sparky off", when I have done NOTHING, after I have been ACCUSED of commiting CRIMES and LYING by someone who knows nothing of me and can only make GUESSES. You are the administrator, so I imagine your going to make it look like you came out on top, and you were right all along. Have fun Spark, go ahead and Administrate.

ARCANE

This is why I don't like free email services. Too many anonymous people who just want to start trouble with utterly no accountability.

For the record, if I was interested in a public pissing match, I'd be more than happy to go toe to toe with you and refute every single thing you said, but it's utterly counter productive. I have nothing to prove here, while you seem intent on acting out.

Just keep in mind that most of your statements do nothing but dig your own hole deeper, or don't apply here.

You are getting banned from the forums because you are acting like an ass, and because you can't seem to understand the user agreement you signed when you registered. In the future, remember that when you are a guest, you should act as one.

If you want to start trouble, you picked the wrong site. Since all of your 8 posts show nothing other than a desire to do this, say goodbye, Troll.

Have a nice life.

Spark,

Acting like an ass? I started a legit discussion, you jumped in and started accusing people (who's the ass there?)

I showed you that you accusations were unfounded, you accused me of illegal activities (who's the ass again?)

I have read some of your other posts, somehow you believe that your very presence on a thread should mean something "Oh my GOD!! Spark is here....) Just because you have the ability to kick someone or end an argument doesn't make you right, rightous maybe but definately not right. You are the administrator, I can understand your duties, but when you act like an opinionated fool, and then someone makes you look the way your acting you instantly get a "FOR THE GOOD OF THE FORUM" attitude and start kicking people. Maybe you should change your auto-signature to read Administrator of Spark's EGO. Justice is blind, you as the administrator should try using statements such as "this thread is getting out of hand", "everyone tone this discussion down and get back on track", instead of instantly TAKING SIDES (which is real neutral isn't it), calling people liars, saying things like "your begining to tick me off" (ooohh scary.....), then using your admin powers to end an argument that not only make you look stupid but proves you wrong.

You have more power than others on the Forums, that means you should act with more caution and be more SELF-QUESTIONING in thier use instead acting like BladeForums is a third world country and your the dictator.

ARCANE

p.s. Just as an after thought about your last statement "say goodbye, troll" which then I presume you proceeded to kick me off, as if you could start a name calling match then brush me aside with all smugness. By posting once again under a different name I've showed you that you can never really get rid of me. So I would suggest that you attempt talk this out man to man instead of cutting off the head of all your problems like a spoiled brat.
