If you ever search the old threads it is a wasteland because of the loss of all the images that people had on Photobucket when they changed policies.
I just tried posting some images and I've been told I've reached my limit (whatever that is). Am I going to have to start deleting images I've posted in the past to make more room? How many hours would that take if even possible. What a waste of lost information. I think I lost about 1,600 posted images on here that were linked to Photobucket. ( I had copies) Geesh, how do I host the Sunday Picture Show if I'm locked out from posting images?
Well, I'm off to search the tech help area....

Thankfully I still use postimage for my other forums which don't have direct uploads, so I've just been using that for BF's.
It's less convenient , but I also don't have to worry about size issues since it has the automatic image resizer.
It is 100% free with no sign up or even log in required, and I'm sure that can't go on this way forever.
My pictures will probably disappear eventually but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

I use google photos. Not because it's the easiest, but because they forced me to open an account, when I started using a smart phone. I figured I had the storage space might as well use it. Postimage or imgur are probably easier to use, but if any of you have a google account and want to use it. I posted instructions here back in Aug 2020.

O.B.

I've been following the threads on this topic in the tech help section. I'm still new here, and I'm nowhere near my limit on posting, but I hope that a reasonable solution is found soon. Losing majority of the photos from older posts erases history and makes them nearly worthless. I can't imagine how those of you who've been posting for years here must feel. Not to mention the amount of photos that won't get posted now since everyone has to be more selective. Watching and waiting with you all.

the buck photo thread, pinned in the buck section, is decimated

Unfortunately this is the reality of the internet, its great to meet people with similar interest and communicate informstiom shoet term, but not long term information storage is a difficult issue to solve. I used to frequent a few other forums that are complete waste lands now. Trying to find old threads on fixing old cars can be a nightmare.

I do a lot of searching on this forum for older knives. To me, the worst loss was the Knock-Off, Counterfeit, Fake Bucks & The Americans Who Sell Them thread. It is really hard to see the differences between a counterfeit knife and a true Buck without photos.

I use Flickr to host images. You can store up to 1000 photos for free. You never know if or when it will turn into the next Photobucket, but unless you are paying for a service, nothing free is guaranteed to be around in the future anyway.

everyone should stay calm and see what solution options the site owner comes up with. don't go deleting your pics or fleeing the site just yet. way too early in the game for those kinda knee jerk responses.

meanwhile I switched to couple different 3rd party pic sites.

anyone who needs help finding a pic hosting site or how to use it..there is enough of us here using them already and can work the different sites and help out those who need it.

just keep in mind what your using it on desktop, laptop, pad or phone. different software and different types of links to work on this site. it sounds hard but it isnt...its just being shown how once, and ya off to the races.....

I've been using imgbb.com the most, so far. on mobile so far I've found it's easier than imgur. hear good things on postimage from others. imgur seems to work well for desktop....I can't get it without the imgur screen surround using on mobile platform yet. I'm still playing with it.

I haven't played with any on desktop and I only use my phone here. I can help anyone using android mobile on imgbb. anyone who need help just ask. I'm sure other here will help on other sites and platforms that match your computing choices.

I have about 2400 images on the system now, all added after I lost 1600 links to Photobucket. I never gave any thought to a limit before today. I'm going to lock this thread since I've calmed down and wait to see what the moderator comes up with. Hoping for a solution before Sunday. /Roger
