The How and Why of Khukuri Buying

For those who are new to the forum, here are some tips on khukuri buying.

1. Visit the Himalayan Imports website, Howard Wallace's Khukuri FAQ website, the Himalayan Imports Archives, and the Bladeforums Himalayan Imports Forum to get some background on khukuris. Read the material, think about it, and ask questions here on the forum or of Uncle Bill Martino at himimp@aol.com or phoning him between the hours of 8 am to 8 pm Pacific Standard Time at area code775, then 825-2279. 2. After reading the above material, decide on why you are getting your first khukuri. Are you going to use it? If so, how will it be used? If you are planning on collecting khukuris, what are you looking for to ensure that you collect a good khukuri?

3. Get your first khukuri by contacting Uncle Bill or watching out for his bargain deals. Know that you must be quick with your emails/phone calls as you can get some very nice khukuris waiting for his "Uncle Bill's Deal of the Day(UBDOTD)".

4. Wait for the khukuri to arrive.

5. Upon arrival, unpack the khukuri and hold it in your hand for the first time. Feel the heft of a very good quality blade tool. Use it in a non threatening manner as a tool to understand why khukuris are such a useful tool. Follow the manditory keys to khukuri safety.

6. Know now that you have just contracted the Himalayan Imports Khukuri Virus(HIKV) and will be ordering more khukuris.

And don't spend too much time agonizing over which style is the best....they all are! my advice is don't buy the UBDOTD though....

Take HIKV very seriously, betcha can't have just one!
 
Actually, I was the one to define ( and subsequently name ) the syndrome, Harry.

I think I called and ordered a khuk from Uncle one Monday, got it Tuesday or Wednesday, took a look at what I got, called and ordered 2 more which came in the next day or Friday. From zero to 3 khuks in four days, if I recall correctly. THEN - another early the next week for 4 khuks inside of ten days.

Uncle Bill,
Got the villager in great shape the other day, thanks. It's nice to be in the same time zone and receive packages within two days. All I can say is that #6 is in full bloom.
