Hello,

I am new here.

After lurking for six months or so,
I have posted a few times just to get
my keyboard wet.

That said, the impact of this forum on me
has been significant.

Over the past three months I have purchased
the following knives:

Kershaw Onion Boa
Camillus Arclite neck Knife
CRKT Point man (small)
GenO Denning GM (received)
Have ordered two more Denning knives.
Have ordered a Dobrusky Prometheus
folder.

That's seven knives in three months.
Every one of the purchases has been based largely,
if not exclusively, upon favorable comments I've
read on this forum.

Although I am not new to knives and collecting, it
has been fifteen years, or more, since I was last
involved.

This forum has been invaluable in helping me assess
the new generation of makers as well as the new
production offerings. It has helped me get up to
speed much more quickly than I had expected.

Thank you all.

Sport

There are definitely some very knowledgeable folks who hang out here, and based upon your recent purchases, it appears as though you've heeded their advice very well.:)

Welcome to BFC.

Welcome Sport!

My knife buying habits increased too in the six months I've been here. I figure I've bought almost half of the forty or so knives I own in that time. Mostly Spyderco, but now I'm waiting on a Livesay U.S. Marshall...

Poverty approacheth,

Welcome sport, You know I don't know if I'd use the term "lurking" it's such a negative term. Might
be the better word would be "learning" which really discribes what a good many folk's do,including
me, before they join the forum. As to the forums impact I'd guess that almost every person who visited
this forum for a while buys at least a knife or two after learning what a good knife is.

Yea, with all the trouble that knifenuts have nowadays the terms we use in these public forums
can help or hurt our hobby. Terms such as "Lurking" and "Sheeple" really don't do anything but
offend the occasional visitor causing them not to return because of the negative feeling they leave.
Folk's in the gun lobby have learned that it is counter productive to be "In your face" in defending
the gun ownership issues. I'm probaly gona' get flamed for saying this ,but you can always get more
with sweets than you can with bitters.

Welcome sport.
I joined last year, and my knife shopping has never been the same! :D

There's a lot of knowledge in this place, not to mention some of the world's leading knifemakers.

There's always someone here that's been there and done it before!

I need equipment for use in some pretty difficult situations. Coming here has allowed me to get anecdotal information concerning models of knives that I was interested in. Lurking isn't necessarily a bad moniker. It is simply a label fora forumite that chooses to read without interjecting their opinions or knowledge. There is nothing wrong with it. Sheeple is a term that tends to be attributed to people who flat out refuse to consider the possibility of using weapons or violence to protect the lives of their families or themselves. The moniker becomes more attacking when the "sheeple" try to forward legislation that forces others to conform to their views as opposed to the freedom to choose.

Welcome!!Yes,certainly has had an amazing impact on my life. The knowledge plus the info on the exsistance of products and makers. It has made me broke also, but happy:p

Welcome to the sharpest place on earth....ok ok, that was bad I know :)

I think this place has learned just about everyone who has stopped by even if just for a second, not to mention helped us drain our wallets :D with new purchase ideas

Ditto what Leemah said.
Expanding further, it is this particular forum, having dabbled with others, that I keep coming back to (Sparky not withstanding:) ).
Just a joke Sparky, absolutely have no arguments with you. I would hate to have to put myself in your shoes even for a day, much less full time. Enough brown nosing (and it wasn't in the hopes of getting a free gold:) )

As for the "Sheeple" term, I would like to respond at length to this but not in this thread, not in this forum.

Hi, I have to admit before I found Bladeforums I was cutlery challenged,:D . Since then, all of my custom & production knife purchases have been directly influenced by the information I've gotten from Bladeforums! This IS the place to find out the information you want to find out about knives. A great place!!

I remember the "good ole days" of searching the gun mags for anything written about knives. When production models were all anyone knew anything about and a "Custom" was a rare item. Then came the knife mags and the knife shows. The world opened up. Now we have one of the greatest knife resources on the planet, "Bladeforums." Think about it, now you can communicate with a maker and other owners and find more than ample research on any particular knife, steel, design, or performance before you buy. Plus, the added extra of having an outlet for finding out and/or notifying others of people guilty of bad service or quality.

Yes, the forums has lead to more knife purchases. When knife people can find out this much about all the various steels, designs, and makers we feel better about spending our money. Not a day goes by I don't feel the need to buy a new knife, but I wouldn't think of making any purchase without consulting the "forums" first.

I saw Gus in Blade this month, it was cool to see someone in the magazine not only I have met but can comminicate with on the forums.

Let's all keep this forum up the quality we would expect from our new blade.

Thanks to the forums, I don't think of money as in how many cartons of smokes you could get... Now I see a hundred dollar bill and think "that's a [insert hundred dollar knife here]"

Welcome to the forums
