I learned the valuable lesson of practicing what you preech this weekend. I just got done telling my 9 yr old son why you need to be careful when using sharp knife and always use the correct tool for the task at hand 10 minutes earlier.
Rather than washing the correct knife I just grabbed my 10" fillet knife to slice up an apple for apple crisp.
Well it didn't end well....

After a quick trip to the Emergency Room I was able to finish the apple crisp that was "To Die For😉"

btw, You're not alone. If I cut myself, it is usually with one of Chris's OKTs. This one was done with his new unnamed model that I temporarily named "Intimidator". I was trying to multitask, had the knife in my off hand (left hand) and then tried to catch a bottle of mineral oil that I knocked over towards my laptop. It did more of a hit to the thumb and hurt the bone with impact than I think the cut hurt.

I got bit by my dashi and my wife hates half stop slipjoints because they spring at you like a rattlesnake.

Ouch. Sorry to see that. I really don't believe in a do all knife design. Though, this is not the way I usually try to convince folks.
