So, I've been trying to get this for a long time. Long story short, the owner of the store in OKC that commissioned these bad boys from KB and has a big pile of them took a while to get my order in the mail. No need to get into more detail than that. Now it's mine.
I even managed to get #104 out of 1000, to match my Beckerhead number.
Got 'im yesterday, just in time to cut some feather sticks for the cooking contest Guyon was running.
Here are some side by side comparison shots with my vanilla Phat Bob. I haven't had the D2 long enough to really form any opinion.... right now I'm trying to figure out how I feel about the micarta finish, which is less 'shiny' than the vanilla PB micarta. I was kind of expecting a rich, dark black and this ain't that. Maybe I'll polish it way up. Wonder why Ken went with this finish.
But it's still a Phat Bob, which is a damn good thing. Same great pros, same cons, and sharp as a laser.
Here's the D2 PB next to some of it's KA-BAR brothers.
Big thanks to Brandon who was nice enough to swing by the store when it was looking like maybe my order was lost in the ether. I think that visit was what shook the knife loose.
