Well, now the Army has decided that they don't need me to go overseas after all. I don't know why, and I don't care, I'm just ecstatically happy. Of course, now I need to figure out what to do for school and how to make living arrangements work since I already rented out my room, but I can make it work. What I find unconscionable is the fact that my chain of command knew four days ago that I would not be sent on this mission, and they failed to tell me. I had to call them to find out. The Unit Administrator asked them if she should notify me and was told that someone else would do it. I'm happy that I'm not going, but I'm furious that they never told me about this. There's no excuse, not after all of the other communications breakdowns they have had with me. My Sergeant Major will be hearing from me about this tomorrow. So thank you all so much for you support in my previous thread, it now appears that this roller coaster has come to rest.

Sorry for all your troubles, Kurt. That's a bummer. However, this is nothing new when it comes to the Army. My grandfather loves to tell the story about his first few days in Europe during WWII. Somehow, somewhere, wires were crossed and he and another guy were put on a series of trains that took them 16 hours to get where they were going. The only problem was that the train that they were SUPPOSE to be on would have been a 1 hour trip max. Since they were left out in the middle of nowhere with no way to get where they needed to be, they had to hitchhike and barter their way back to where they were stationed. It took them 2 days! On top of all that, it took MUCH talking and pleading with a CO to reverse their AWOL status:rolleyes:

Good news, Kurt, regardless if the delivery of the news was insensitive and bureacratic.

Congratulations. I know people who would have loved to get your sort of news.
Now you can get on with the fun stuff.
