What an unbelievable day.....I've truly crossed the line into laughable at at this point. Sadly it's my own damn greedy fault. I'm an experienced traveler and normally don't have any problems with these situations but good lord oh mighty these last 24hrs have taught me a lesson.
Last week I wasn't sure I would make the trip to Knob Creek but then changed my this week for obvious reasons, lol So at the last minute I threw together a nice little travel package that wasn't bad on price at all. Sure I had to go out of IAD instead of my home airport but no biggie I do that all the time for work. The flight was early morning YESTERDAY (Thursday) so i could be at the hotel in time to have some scheduled conference calls and prepare for Friday (ugh, today). This meant I left my home almost on the dot at 02:00ET for the drive to IAD.
Here is where I turned the day on it's a**. Flying full time affords many opportunities for free tickets and I use them all year to make small trips to Vegas and such for free. Well one presented itself AND the re-ticket would have been through my home airport since no seats were left to SDF going through IAD for the day. I'm thinking freaking-A! This rocks a free ticket and ill be closer to home when I fly back.
New flight was last out this evening, but thats as far as I got until it was finally canceled because of maintenance, the soonest I could get a rebook was last out Friday night or first out Sat morning from IAD, LOL I don't mind maintenance issues some things can't be helped but if I had only kept my original flights.
I'm tired, irritated, out a lot of fuel from 160mi roundtrip and WET from the storms that have moved into the area. Worst of all.....after 24hrs I'm literally right back in my office chair where I started and screwed for some seriously fat INFI :grumpy:
