After saying over and over that I didn't need a BK9, I just ordered one.

That isn't rational.

I may be psychotic.

Then you've found where you belong.

Go ahead and keep posting and get your Beckerhead number and make it official.

once you get it you will find out that you did actually need it all along :D

Mr. Helm, you wrote a post that I was able to read in one sitting... it must be the psychosis :p

I hope you enjoy the 9. She was my first Becker and still my most used.

Not to contribute to the addiction, but you might also consider a 4. It is lighter for your hiking (which you have said is important to you), and it has much of the same capability as the 9.

Remember what I said in the other thread, lol?

Do you mean the note where you consider the idea that you might be a hoarder and dismiss it in favor of the idea that you have a system? Hmm. I think a hoarder would keep all the knives he acquires and I don't do that. I knew I was acquiring a lot of Becker knives and that they take up a whole lot more space then almost any of my other knives; so I needed to free up some space. I went through all my knives, seriously considering each one and put the knives that had flaws in a box: (1) pocket knives or lock-backs that weren't made properly and didn't open and close smoothly, in a box; (2) fixed-bladed knives that looked good in the advertisement but turned out to be junk when they arrived, and (3) knives I was so disappointed with that I hated looking at or thinking about them (the Schrade SCHF10 for example). I topped it off with a few good knives and then when my son came over yesterday gave them to him. He likes to fix things; so I went through them telling him what I thought was wrong with each one. He uses up a lot of knives on his job; so my not liking a knife wasn't a big deterrent for him. I gave him a couple of older SDRL cameras as well. Then we went up onto my two-story roof and replaced the spark-arrester that blown off in a recent wind-storm. I'd gone up there and replaced it when it blew off a few years ago but the idea of going up there when I was 80 seemed fool-hardy and risky. Still I was interested in seeing how wobbly I'd be on the slanted Spanish-style roof-tiles and stepping off the edges onto a ladder. I wasn't as steady as I used to be but what the heck, I might as well get a 9. Does that make sense?

Hmm. Didn't think so.

^^The 5 is a great Slicer/Butcher/Kitchen knife^^
The 9er is the essential Becker along with the 2!
There will be more to follow...
You have our continued addictive support!

Oh, it makes perfect sense. The 9 has been talking to you all along, you just weren't capable of listening properly. After you got up on that roof, the elevation change encouraged the swelling and congestion in your sinuses to subside. This in turn reduced the pressure on your eustachian tube, allowing your inner ear pressure to be reduced, thereby increasing the resonance volume of your ear canal. The resulting hearing improvement subsequently allowed you to hear the subtle call of the BK9.

Thinking you don't need a 9 is irrational. You can't not have a 9.

still aint got one..

You also can't not have a 5...

aint got one of those either!
