I am still pretty angry at myself for this one & no one else to blame but me.
My first Buck Knife & my best fixed blade work horse.
Such a stupid thing really...
Went on a fishing trip over the Easter vacation off the Coast of Cornwall on the Southwest tip of England.
The Intrepid slipped off the lanyard loop when I was adding some bait to a line..splosh..!
So that was pretty disapointing after 5 yrs of solid dependable use & its the first knife I have ever lost.

It was the equivalent of over $220 dollars when I bought it so its not going to be a cheap or straight forward replacement.
No Intrepids left in the UK !

I might have to change my user ID now..

Cheers
Intrepid (minus) 1

Very funny guys.:)
Thats about the kind of sympathy I got from the other guys on the boat.
And more or less what was expected.;)
Boat was a rental.
Did not get precise fix.
We were at sea, some 12 miles off shore....
Its defintely gone !
I have the sheath still..
I was too angry to go through stripping that off my belt & throw it in, besides that, its a good sheath.

Just annoyed with myself right now.

Intrepid1,
Reminds me of a time when I went deep sea fishing out of San Francisco with some buddies. We had been up all night partying down in San Jose and had to drive up to SF to catch a boat going out at 6:00AM from SF bay.:barf: We made it on time to catch the boat and spent the next three hours heading out about 30 miles looking for salmon. Two of my buddies were so hung over that they retired to the boat's hold to sleep it off. I was on the bow of the boat with THREE lines in the water. After sitting there for what seemed an eternity, all of a sudden  everyone was getting strikes on their lines. All at once I got a strike on one of the three I had out. I jumped up, grabbed the pole and started reeling in like nobody's business. Then all of a sudden I got a strike on the SECOND line I had out. I got so excited that I just LET GO of the pole I already had in my hands to grab the second pole. Needless to say, the first rod went overboard!! :( Since all the tackle was RENTED we had a tough time coming up with a story to explain the missing rod&reel!:o We did catch our limit of salmon so I guess the story ends on a positive note. I will never forget this incident as long as I live!:p

Keep the screen name.... I'm sure another Intrepid will find it's way back into your hands. Your next one will mean even more to you

I guess the good thing, if that is possible, is that you got to use a knife many of us only dream of owning.
It is truly a loss.

My take on this is...everything happens for a reason...maybe you were procrastinating on buying something else/better/different...but didn't because you had the Intrepid...welll...now you can... :)

And be sure to put in a claim on your homeowners insurance on that Intrepid... :D

Thanks for all your comments guys.
Much appreciated.
Yeah, I could claim but as I have all my collection of pricey knives on the policy,
I am kind of loath to claim when it will bump my policy &...afterall, it was my fault !
I guess I will wait until another Intrepid shows up.
I dont want anything else really.
When I bought it, there were plenty of them around.
How often have we said that eh !
Its one of those things where you find a user that really does so many chores.
Does not corrode.
Keeps & takes a good edge.
The only thing it did badly....it was crap at floating;)

Cheers
Intrepid

Unlucky mate on losing your knife. Is the Intrepid discontinued alltogether?
I know it can be hard to get hold of decent blades in the UK but not impossible. You may be able to import one if you can find it online or second hand and of course if you have the funds available.. good luck:)
