Why is the general opinion that the RC-4 is best partnered with the Izula? What is the reasoning???

Well, for me it just sort of happened this way. I started with an Izula and then got an RC4.

Now, here is how it works for me.

I wanted a small fixed blade for the strap of my pack (Izula). its a great size for general use and easy access with the sheath. Its also the perfect size and I dont look like Rambo on the trail.

But, for really sturdy field use, I need something a little more hefty. Something that COULD baton, but mostly used for general bushcraft use. To me the RC4 is perfect. Not too big, not too small.

All that may go out the window when I get my RC3 but Till then, thats my story and Im sticking to it!

I dunno, I wanted the RC-4 first, then got an Izula.

The RC-4 was big enough to be my outdoors knife and then I got the Izula for a neck knife.

The RAT Pack RC-3 will be my next, and it will sit in my SHTF bag.

I don't think I ever really take the RC-4 and izula together except that if I have my RC-4 as a belt knife, it is a good chance my Izula is nestled away in my PSK as a kit knife or back-up.

If I were using my knife for just about anything and had a choice to grab the izula or the RC-4, I would grab the RC-4 every time. In my mind, where the Izula shines is when you can't really be wearing a belt knife. The izula gives you a pretty good all round knife that can be carried in just about any manner. The RC-4 gives you a really good all round knife that is best suited to wearing on your sheath.

I think the RC-3/RC-6 pair together very well and even better than the Izula/RC-6 given that the RC-3 is thinner and a better cutter then the izula. The RC-3/4 overlap too much to carry together though. Of course, that didn't stop me from owning them all anyway!

The Izula pairs well with any blade that is larger than it. I think the RC-4 combo is popular simply because the RC-4 is large enough without being too large. Pair the kind of hard use functionality you get from the RC-4 with the handy, precise functionality you get from the Izula and you have a lot of function without a lot of bulk and weight.

I have the RC-4 and it is a sweet knife even though I have had it for only about a day and already I am going to get an Izula that much I know.

Similar to what I was going to say. I don't think the Izula would pair well with the HEST or Rc-3 because the blade lengths are to similar. The Izula should go great with the RC-4, 5, 6, 10 or a machete, axe/hatchet. Depending on your needs.
